I used to love nights back in the UK at Renaissance in Nottingham, where John Digweed, Nick Warren, Sasha and others would immerse the crowd in intelligent, deep, progressive music that took you on a journey.
Here's my attempt at channeling that feeling, with a mix that's the perfect Brain Food.

2020 was kind of a mixed bag wasn’t it?  However from the onslaught of negativity coming from all sides, I found a lot to love in 2020.  One thing was rediscovering my love of house music and mixing – be it at some awesome house parties or to share on Soundcloud.  At the beginning of the year, I would never have thought I’d have people from Australia to the UK to Canada (I've never even been to Canada!!!) listening to mixes I recorded, with over 500 downloads.  I am humbled and honoured.
Here in Australia, a local radio station is famed for their “Hottest 100” – the best tracks of the previous year as voted by the listeners.  My approach is much less democratic (think of me as more of a benevolent dictatorship), so for this mix I picked out some of my favourite releases from 2020.
2020 seemed to be the year of producers rediscovering house classics from the era when I was running around in the UK listening to mix CDs (and tapes!) from Ministry of Sound, Renaissance, Hacienda, Mixmag and the like.  If you were there, you’ll know…  On top of that, some great new music was released, and I discovered the joy of record shopping from the comfort of home.
That means that this mix is a mixed bag, with little planning and with me oftentimes wondering where it was going!  A bit like 2020 really…  
So “Thanks” 2020.  Let’s stick a pin in that one and groove on shall we?  Enjoy.

01 Incapable Staircase - Hot Mix Take 1

Long-time lover of all things house…
From a love of house that started at the Haçienda in Manchester, I got bitten badly by the DJ & Vinyl bug and moved on to playing parties in Nottingham (UK) and warm-up gigs for Slinky and Ministry of Sound, before moving to Australia in 2004.
Now back behind the decks in Adelaide and a regular at Dancing Room, I hope you enjoy the mixes ranging from deep progressive aural journeys, remixes of house classics from back in the day, and through to  jazz-influenced deep house grooves.
It's varied and at times eclectic - but always united in music!
