A mix with conflicted intention:
A mix to mark the 21st Birthday Party for Planet Zogg;
A demo to help the Noisily Festival programmers place us, appropriately, in their lineup.
In the end, I mostly just played what felt like coming out - which is very representative of the sets I play at Planet Zogg.
Its a mix of old and new tracks - not quite as cross genre as I might sometimes play. I think that was the Noisily influence.

folk memory, for what it is, says that this mix was recorded at a dirty warehouse party in 2008. Playing under an alter ego, Arthur Tabb, i wove together (no, really ..) a range of genre defying tunes to make this mix.. Still loving the sound and feel of this after all these years.. and, as I still occasionally get asked to burn a cd of it, I decided to stick it up for download.
NB - don't use the mail in the artwork. I stopped checking that years ago.

recorded live at Tribe of Frog, Lakota, Bristol. (28/03/15) An 'off the cuff' DJ mix of classic underground trance dating from 1996 - 2006.. or thereabouts.

A tasty blend of techno styles in a mix that represents my set from Tek Tonik 2.
The set bridged the warmup, wonderfully delivered by ZickoZick, to peak time intensity.

Two hours of cross genre techno, reaching a fairly furious (for me) level of intensity. It was mixed in the moment, with a sense of adventure. By that I mean it was mixed spontaneously, for dancefloor response and not really for online promotion or scrutiny. However, I enjoyed listening back and it is what happens when I play...
Anyway - enjoy.
Many thanks to the hardworking Sunrise and Equinox teams. You create such a wonderful environment and experience, year after year.

I had the privilege of closing the Sunrise Stage at the 2024 Beatherder Festival and here it is...
I am trusting to the magical atmosphere of the stage, which prevailed throughout the weekend and untill the end of my 'just one more', final track. I promised myself not to overly scrutinise the mix and just to share it, having made sure it was all mine, by scrolling quickly through, and not pausing to inspect the minutiae of the sound.

Thanks to all of the Sunrise crew, who work so hard to create the beautiful ambience of the stage. The outstanding decor, lighting, sound and stewarding of the space make it a jewel in the northern crown that Beatherder proudly wears.

greg zogg, Beat Herder 2024 - Sunrise Stage - Sunday

This was a truly serendipitous event.
Aubergine Meltdown (that's me and the missus) Co promoting the sublime Carbon Based Lifeforms at their first Manchester gig.
Awesome! Thank you Universe, thank you Paul Watts @Beautiful Burnouts.
Wait, how about you do a DJ set in the chillout room?
Oh yes, oh yes!
Hmmm, and how about going back to back with Paulina, in the main room, after CBL
Ahhh... bit of an actual meltdown.
Anyway, taking it one step at a time I got there and here it is, the chillout set. (YES, YOU CAN SMILE AT THE IDEA OF A CHILLOUT ROOM EXISTING AT A CBL GIG)
A pair of decks, with the mixer effects. I added a couple of extra channels, with sound effects, samples and some additional efx, just to enhance the fun of live performance. I had hoped to include the Theramin, but the meltdown brought me down to a more realistic, achievable approach. Maybe next time.
The set is a blend of tunes that I mainly listen to when in the bath. Occassionaly they make it into a Secret Garden DJ set. It turned out to be so much fun.

Whichever Way - Chillout / Downtempo DJ Mix by greg zogg

We are at Equinox Festival. Getting here has been a real challenge. It's a mental health thing. Is it ironic that a lifetime working in mental health has led me here?
Feeling out of place, like an outsider, rapidly diminishes in the face of the acceptance and warmth of the inclusive Equinox Festival community.
It's Saturday Night. The atmosphere at the Sunrise stage is electric! It's ready to erupt. I feel that all I want to do at this point in time is be a part of this collective energy, get behind the decks & let myself go.
I completely lose myself in the mix.  I feel part of the dancefloor, freed from the cage that has held me captive. It is visceral, raw and in the moment.
Cathartic, lustral, life-affirming, transcendent. (Even if it feels I am labouring the point here...)
90 minutes of absolute clarity, connection and insight.
It is sublime to have that interaction with the tribe and to share a timeless moment as part of something larger, leaving behind the day to day isolation I have experienced for much of the past 4 months.
Dave (Leadbeater) hits record & the outpouring that is my set is captured in digital splendour. (Ta very much, Dave)
It reflects the spontaneity, impulsivity & disinhibition that took control.
Praise be! It's here, rough edges and all.

Greg Zogg Equinox Festival 2025 Sunrise Stage

Here is my set from Tek Tonik 8.
A wonderful party, with the mighty Monk3yLogic and Andy Faze guesting.
Okay, it's not so 'dark' - but the earlier part of the set includes some of the darker and more psychedelic techno that I enjoy playing. As ever, I got carried away and a few 'tunes' drop towards the end. That was driven by the dancefloor response and some of the familiar, Tek Tonik regulars. I can't resist dropping a few new tunes that I know certain people will go bonkers for.
And they did :-)
The title and scratch sample come from a track (The System is Corrupted) by Dist and Zisco. I didn't play the track, in the end. I just played with the vocal I had ripped and used it as a signature - start, and end of the mix.

Here is my Dj set from Saturday night on the Magical Sounds Stage at the amazing Bearded Theory festival in 2023. It was a very receptive crowd - fab interaction and some serious dancing action was had by all. The mix is a fun blend of Techno, Acid and Tech Trance sounds.... which I love sooooo much!
There was a bit of 3 deck action - just to pop in the odd loop and some vocal samples.
My first time playing on a pair of cdj3000 and an A9 mixer!!
I pressed all the buttons...which brought up a few surprises!

24 years of parties!!
That's over 200 Planet Zogg parties...
It was such a privelage to play the end of the night, to that dancefloor. To those beautiful people! Full of visceral energy, love and individuality.
The opening tune is a recent remix project that I had been working on with Sabretooth (AKA Ben Fraser). The original track, 'Pharmonic' is the first in a new project from Jack Allsop (Act One). Thanks for that guys. Dont forget to keep listening at the end. After a few seconds of silence (you can't hear the rapturous cheers and applause :-) the last couple of tracks start. The Louis Armstrong ritual is also represented, as the recording kept running.

What a party that was!!
Such a thrill, playing to a packed dancefloor, full of the Zogg Family, right up to 6am. (yes, again! Let's not take it all for granted)
The set is just a little faster than I would normaly prefer to play, but that was the nature of the night and preceeding set. (thanks Lorraine, for coming along and playing such a stormer!!)
Also.. adit... keep listening, I the set finishes and then there is 'one more'.. featuring the unreleased (at the time) preview of a wonderful bootleg. I felt privelaged to be able to play that (Thanks Jack, Act One).

Here is my set from Sunday evening, Sunrise Stage at Equinox Festival 2023.
Thanks (again) to Dave Leadbeater for the recording. I wasn't going to share the mix, as I wasn't happy with what I heard. However, a postive peer review made me remember how much I had enjoyed bridging an unusual gap in bpm and intensity, hanging out with the Equinox Family and playing some wonderful, stomping tunes.
Just 2 decks, but it kept me plenty busy enough!
My final festival set of the 2023 summer - and, on reflection, it was a good one for the dancefloor and for me.
As ever, thanks to all the folk who helped to make Equinox 2023 happen.

Discoteka - in this case AKA Ben Fraser v greg zogg. Discoteka was also the name we agreed on for the occasional live sets featuring live drums (Ben Fraser), guitar (greg zogg) and knob tweaking  (Kebba Propulsion).
The track was released on the double CD 'Keeping It Unreal Since 2000'. The CD features carbon neutral cd pressing, sustainable card sleeve and vegetable dyes
