Seems Bristol may not be the only bass-built UK City to spawn true dirtybird talent. Midway up the little island the city of Birmingham is boiling its bins and splitting its subs with the sounds of Hannah Wants and Chris Lorenzo. Hannah & Chris kicked off their year with the mighty 'Dappy', a crew favourite from Food recordings.  Hannah has been red hot on tour throughout the UK and Chris is finally stepping out of the shadows of being a ghost writer for over 6 years, now working on several projects including Cause & Effect, collabs with Pete Graham and countless other productions. 

  "Kneadin" has provoked more reaction than almost any other track in the sets of dirtybird this summer hitting a pinnacle at Hideout festival in Croatia when it was played 5 times in one day (over two events) by Justin Martin, VonStroke & Eats Everything!   

Another first for dirtybird sees us looking to Russia for our remixer and a seasoned producer who never fails to impress with his blend of raw, jackin' house. Tripmastaz replaces the break beats of the original with his jack-hammer 4/4's, but its his patient stretching and remoulding of the bassline that really impresses.

One of the most exciting young talents to emerge in drum & bass in recent times, within two releases Chords had already secured himself a golden contract with Ram Records. Neither party has looked back since. 

With an established trademark for lush, rich textures, melodic twists and that concentrated rushy energy that made us all fall in love with drum & bass in the first place, each Chords production tingles with sonic clarity and electrifying distinction. And none more so than these gems...

Previously featured on Andy C's 'Nightlife 6', 'High Groove' is a game of two halves. Introducing itself as a twinkling soulful roller with glistening arpeggios and honey-coated vocal groans, it quickly explodes into an unruly romp. The bassline buzzes with incessant fire, punching through the mix with each single note hit. As the original star-gazing elements are re-introduced into the mix, it's a perfect blend of contrasts and dynamics. 

'Summit' surges with even more breath-taking charm: crisp synths take the lead as the drama unfolds by way of tight steppy drums, dreamy pads and a well bodied bassline that slaps hard. Yet again, Chords has struck another perfect balance between drum & bass's quintessential elements: light and dark, slim and heavy, deep and firing, warm and icy. 

Finally, for added digital pleasure, Chords has also provided the cheeky 'Goodbye Groove'. A show-stopping, bass-pumping house version of 'High Groove', he's flipped the vibe so consummately it's impossible to tell which version is the original, and which one is the remix. An awesome shout out to the house crew and a fantastic creative tool if you're looking to switch between styles mid set, this smashes it in every direction. 

Proof that his trademark lush, rich textures and concentrated rushy energy transcend all possible genre restrictions and tempo formalities: this is Chords' biggest release to date. We can't wait to hear what he comes up with next.

Known for being signed to Mark Radford’s label, house and tech producer Oliver Rees puts out his new EP entitled ‘Eyes’ with London dance label MFR Records. 
The Eyes EP starts with the electronic feast that is ‘Eyes’. This vintage and colourful sounding house track combines an inescapable bassline mixed with some syrupy keys perfect for the summer and just what our European festivals ordered. The beautifully chopped up vocals provide some ethnic diversity whilst the lyrics themselves add passion to the track. This feel good track is a reliable source of suspense with its drops and crescendos and is guaranteed to have ravers singing along this summer.

The second track 'Dance Experience' delivers a devilishly addictive and hypnotising rhythm. With the drum structure being drum heavy but bass driven, this track is screeching to be played in the clubs and is just the second instalment of the 18 minute long EP.

The EP leads us into 'Firebird' with its purgatory sounding synths, its instantly recognisable and addictive claps and its pristine drums; Oliver Rees is giving DJs material to make the dance floor go crazy when they are in need. This overall synth pop sound has Oliver Rees down to a T with his previous other productions having the same house, bass and techno sound to them. This one is no different but just as good and will have you into a full-on-electro-house mode.
