This was recorded on the evening of July 27, 1997 at a Crosswalk concert. This Christian Rock band was fronted by Jesse Paul Williams (R.I.P.) and we performed songs that he wrote. This is the only band that I ever played the Bass Guitar for.

Christ Makes The Difference

I wrote and recorded this song in 1980. It was performed by a 3 piece power trio called 'SMUDGE'. I over-dubbed the guitar solos later using a primitive 2 track Teac Syncaset.

The Blueser

Here's a song I wrote in the early 90's. The Genre is Christian Blues. I know that kind of sounds like an oxymoron... but give it a listen.

How Long

Okay, I admit this recording is a little rough and has a few holes in it. The purpose of this 2 track recording was to preserve the concept of the song rather than offer a finished product. I kind of regret not following through and completing this work. I really liked where it was going. But hey, I only had 20 years to finish it (shame & disgust).

Noah

Sometimes writing songs can have a cathartic effect when you have a lot of bottled up deep emotions. I was part of a church many years ago that veered off its mission because of a building project. It was painful to behold as the church almost immediately started to degrade. So I wrote this protest song. I never shared it with anyone at the church... but it sure made me feel better. Today, I am very thankful to belong to a church body that has a real zeal for the gospel. I suppose they could write protest songs about me being such a slacker??? But they choose to keep preaching the gospel of the grace of God... and equip us to do our part in making Christ known.

Now Is The Time

This song was written and recorded in 2008 by my son, Jacob. When he was done, he invited me to lay a lead track on it. I jumped on it. Jacob did the final mixing as well. I'm pretty proud of him.

This recording is an excerpt of a band I was in called 'Smudge'. It started as a 3 piece power trio in the 1979/1980 era. We wrote all our own material... therefore we kept our day jobs. Keith Hempen played the drums and Ted May played the bass guitar. They are both still active in the music scene.

The was recorded using a crude two track device - a TEAC # 124 Syncaset cassette deck. Since I was limited to just 2 tracks, I had to alternate between my voice and lead guitar on the second track. It's pretty thin... but you get the idea.

The Wrong Voice (3m 25s)

This was recorded in a friends studio back in 1999. I'm a little creeped out by the name of the song... but that's what my friends named it. Tommy Zuke wrote the song and Mike Greenup put the Bass track on.
