The Good Game

My personal note:  This song was born out of a moment of serendipity ... the music conceived in a moment of pure inspiration from reading my wife's written lyrics.  Those special moments are rare .. and I'm grateful for this one.   The song follows a fellow who has lost a relationship, but has grown from the experience and has become a new man.

Positano .. what a wonderful place to meet the love of your life.  

This song is one I wrote several years ago and put out a demo quality version (still on Soundcloud).  But this new and improved version features unique performances including a beautiful italian classical guitar, a professional session drummer from the UK, and the return of Mr. John Leslie Long (from That Side of Me) on vocals.  I hope the song gives you mental glimpse of this quaint and colorful town where the sounds and scents are many and sweet.

Fly Away

My personal note:  I originally wrote a piano ballad version of this song around 15 years ago ... and it has sat unattended all the while.  It was finally time to infuse it with some Pop and Energy.  Those paying close attention to the lyrics will agree it's a sister-song to "That Side of Me" by again re-conveying the sorrow and loss of what he invested in this missed relationship ... his colors.   But wait, sad songs shouldn't be bright and energetic...right?  Maybe it's a sign he's finally moving on.  ;)

This new and improved version features unique performances including a stellar Electric guitar solo by Martin D'Alesio, and a return of Mr. Welman on drums.  And of course Mr. John Leslie Long (from That Side of Me & Positano) supporting again with his amazing vocals.

This song came together piece by piece over several months, with some phenomenal keys contributions from my musical counterpart Greg Holzer (https://soundcloud.com/user-35701214).

All guitars and bass recorded from Line 6 Helix into Reaper Audio, drums programmed with Superior Drummer 3, and several reverb and delay plugins from Valhalla.

Ominous Weapons (feat. Greg Holzer)

Titled after a Ray Bradbury story, this song is written as a soundtrack that follows the progression of the story.  No guitar noodling or solos, mostly just texture and movement.  

The first section is an arrival, a sense of newness and discovery.  The second section brings a sinister twist onto the same underlying structure.  In the third section, the original theme returns but the context around it has become more complex. 

A huge thanks to Greg Holzer (@user-35701214) for adding so much to this one - the keys/strings/etc... really brought the song to life.

Recorded in Reaper Audio with some plugins by Valhalla (delay, reverb).  All guitars and bass recorded with various presets on a Line6 Helix.
