This one’s for you Jeff!

I was arranging some tracks for this mix when I heard the awful news regarding Jeff's sudden passing and felt it only right to pay my respects in the form of both of our passions…music! 

I know Jeff was mostly well known for his hardcore rave sets but I also know he had a soft spot for soul and funk so with that in mind I’ve mixed together a full 6 hours of more chilled out 80’s club classics including one of Jeff's faves from that genre, Chaka Khan - Ain’t Nobody around the 2hr 56 min mark.

I’ve admired probably Plymouth’s longest serving and unbelievably talented DJ for over the last 30 years and Jeff will always hold a special place in my heart. An inspiration on and off the turntables and one of the key people to encourage me to start DJing myself.

Massive thank you to Peachey, Lee J, Roy, Rich Emery and all of the others artists who provided the amazing piece down the side of The Warehouse used in the vid...total respect!

Well we think it's fair to say this one was a little bit special!
Li McHugh, amazing co-producer of this incredible weekly show, finally makes her own solo Sunday Service debut, so please excuse us for being a little bit excited about that :)

Li has always been a massive disco fan but never really DJ'd before. In a couple of past shows, she enlisted the help of her fellow Disco Walton, Goz, to mix her selections together. Then her other half bought her some decks last Xmas - she really enjoys having a spin on them in her spare time, and now she's produced her first ever proper mix for Sunday Service - amazing! She says it "probably won't be perfect", but we know you'll absolutely love it.

Joining Li is friend of the show, the amazing Derrick McKenzie of Jamiroquai. Derrick has kindly agreed and found time in his busy schedule to guest for a second time on DWSS. We love him and it's so good to have him back!

In addition to being a highly accomplished drummer in Jamiroquai, Derrick has been a professional DJ since 2004, performing at Jamiroquai afterparties, as well as touring globally. When he's not busy doing that, he's producing music , teaching his drumming skills and still finds time to host the Rhythm Sessions mix show on Mi-House every Wednesday.

With 30 years’ experience behind the decks - spinning uplifting House, Disco, Edits and more - London-based Greg Middleton is a versatile DJ, from warming things up with laid-back grooves to closing out a night with peak-time floor-fillers. Greg’s sets are fun and nostalgic, yet sophisticated and unpredictable, with rock solid vocals, funky and soulful grooves, layers of organic percussion, and hints of classic house - a nod to his musical roots.

Greg began collecting records and learning the DJ ropes in the early 90s, introducing himself to the club scene spinning House at various nights across the Midlands before moving onto playing at famous London clubs such as SW1 and The Cross.

Over the following decade, Greg broadened his style, heavily influenced the emerging Edits scene championed by the likes of Greg Wilson, Late Nite Tuff Guy and Dr Packer. He then held a three-year residency at the Big Chill Bar (one of London’s long-established venues), where he further honed his skills, reading the crowd and building the tempo while spinning long, genre-hopping sets.

Starting his own regular club night called Borderline in 2018, Greg brought his funky, party vibe to a packed-out, intimate venue in South-West London. When the pandemic hit, Greg took Borderline to the virtual airwaves, doing live streams every Saturday night during the lockdowns, with lively chatrooms and a growing following. The club nights returned with a bang in March 2022, and are going from strength to strength.

As a member of the “Disco Waltons” family, a group of DJs, producers and enthusiasts with a fast-growing reputation, he is currently co-producing the weekly Disco Waltons Sunday Service show on NDC Radio, with guests such as Michael Gray, Richard Earnshaw, Mark Brickman, Jamiroquai's Derrick McKenzie and Greg Wilson.

Greg is also co-host of Pete Ellison's award-winning radio show the Feel Good Friday Show, currently airing weekly on NDC Radio.
