Welcome to the pre-release of Pluviophile. I'm your host, Gregoíre Pearce, and I'd like to take a moment to tell you about the record. First, all the compositions are my own and with the exception of hammond organ (Tim Peck) and tenor saxophone (Derek Joly)I played all of the other instruments. 

The album represents a few years of research, composition, arranging, practice, and a subconscious fusing of many of my influences into what I feel is an accurate representation of my current musical self.

Welcome to the pre-release of Pluviophile. I'm your host, Gregoíre Pearce, and I'd like to take a moment to tell you about myself and the record. First, I'm just under 2 meters and 93kg, all the compositions are my own, and, with the exception of hammond organ (Tim Peck) and tenor saxophone (Derek Joly), I sang and played all of the instruments. The orchestrations vary from solo flamenco guitar like in "June Fifth" to the tres dense "Pluviophile" or "The Love Boat".

The art work isn't finished yet, as you may have noticed, but worry not.. there's a fabulous designer putting the work of a fabulous artist all together for us.

Pluviophile represents a few years of research, composition, arranging, practice, and a subconscious fusing of many of my influences into what I feel is an accurate representation of my current musical self.  

For best results, listen loud! Head between the speakers, earbuds are for chumps, throw on some monitoring cans, just hi-fi, dig?

Cherry Pit Necklace

The distorted, thematic electric piano of early Van Halen meets minimalist Mehldau, Tunisian tremolo surf guitar, bombastic kit, with a lyrical plot.  

Hoimahgawd

This scoring sample builds on the merging of a triplet themed mallet track with drums and bass arpeggiator performed in a duplet meter. The harmonic theme of I Imaj7 vi bVI using a mellotron choir evolves to include strings, brass and woodwind sections. Thank you for listening!

Ambient pad laced with sporadic percussive rips

7th Day, April

7th Day in April (ethereal, uplifting, confident)

This short piece plays with minimalist inversions of chords in C, a droning yet spacious groove for tabla and bells, an untraditional electric guitar pad, string bass, and an octave arpeggiator for a little additional punch.

Angels Over India

Angels Over India (multi-ethnic, rhythmic, spacious)

While playing around on nylon string guitar, which didn't end up in the mix, the melody played here by French horns passed through my brain.

Dramatic Dance for Strings & Horns

An unlikely partnership of piano, tarnished cymbals, and string bass lay a rubato introduction at your feet before a paste of electronic and acoustic drums, horns, winds, and strings whip out their coloring books and show us what to do.

13.4.2017A, The Return

This cue is a humorous, high energy, mildly suspenseful, tear-jerker for strings, tuned and untuned percussion, horns, and a section of flautists none of whom were on time for the session but they are loved anyway and will be called in the future.

An Equatorial Thud

The hi-hat pedal is the back-bone of this piece. Every moment, until this piece ultimately dies, has at its core the pulse of the hi-hat. The changing themes are intended to encourage the listener/viewer to look at their experiences as they relate fundamentally to their core person, values, beliefs, however they care to regard their essence. This essence manifests in the piece through the steadfastness of the hi-hat as the flesh around it evolves.

10.7.2017, Agatha

A humorous, funky introduction is soon met with a minimal orchestral accompaniment to set a playful mode which gives way to the principle harmonic theme that the rest of the piece is built on. That progression is bowled over by a massive fanfare of blaring horns, overblown winds, big timpani, and a retro electronic drum kit.

Grégoire one morning... he picked up his telecaster, lifted a coffee to his exhausted face, pressed record, and improvised the theme that became this short piece.

The guitar in the center channel has the primary theme which is supported by two melody guitars in the left and right channels.

On a dark and treacherous night, whilst sitting in an alley waiting for danger to strike, the opening theme contained herein for guitar came to me. Then, well, I just wrote some more.

Long drawn strings, horns, and winds meet kinetic percussion & piano in this American inspired cue. At the theme's peak there is a Barber-esque climb in the strings as the final chord, in a twist, resolves in Iberian style.

We're a few drafts deep on this one having made adjustments to percussion performances, the synth player's haircut, and overall mix. Here is the ready for broadcast version of 'Departure'. 

This piece is meant to tell the story of a person searching for a long known but lost truth that had been masked by a culture of lies and unclean and deceitful politics. So a subversive, dramatic, espionage piece, non? Ouí.

I'm a composer and multidisciplinary guitarist from the Northeast of North America. I am available to work remotely or on-location for whichever projects present themselves.

I'm available for pre-production chats, spotting sessions, creating orchestral mockups with top shelf virtual and live instruments, arranging and orchestration, and composing for solo instruments and large ensembles alike in various styles. My throughput time from concept to stems is sometimes as short as eighteen hours. 

My music is as if various classical, jazz, rhythm and blues, flamenco, 20th cent. Cuban & South American composers were holding hands around a smokey, wet campfire
