I love this one. Highly original, unusual melodically, excellent rhythmically, and overall a very coherent piece.

Let Me Kiss Your Tears #2

The water metaphor had me thinking to try to have the piece feel like it is always moving, yet still at the same time… As one might look at a river.  
There are gushing bits, and quiet tributaries and stuff in between… 
A word about its structure: 
To do this I set the piece up in 6 sections - each with a different 'tonality' - (or it may sound  like there are only 6 chord changes in the whole piece).  The length of time  given each chord to my mind gives it a sense of being still, or static.
Each section uses the motivic material that is in the first section - though it is sometimes elongated or compressed, etc. (This is the part of the structure that is the glue - as it moves to the next tonality).. And with the differing tonality, creates another frame of reference for those motivic cells… Like a   snap shot down stream  of the same river… Generally the sections get shorter as it continues, and then dissolves into  the coda,  which is the furthest removed from the opening statement.. 
(I was going to call it 'water fantasy' due to it appearing to wander/meander.)  
My challenge was to create different moods employing a common template..

Completed in late 2017, the Magnet Sky Overture is a tone poem, in roughly four short parts (Andante misterioso – Allegro scherzando – Lento maestoso – Grandioso finale), depicting the modern web of social motion in our newly connected world.
