Gregory Hodges is a blues guitarist, singer and songwriter who grew up in the South, born in 1980 in Spartanburg, South Carolina to be exact. Hodges’ first musical influence was his father Rupert Hodges, also a singer / songwriter who taught young Hodges how to play the guitar at age 9. His musical family included both parents who still perform together, brothers and uncles who also play music as well. 

Hodges started taking lessons from Colonel Gene Wyatt, local guitarist Hank Garland’s partner in crime. At a young age, he started studying his favorite artists including BB King, Albert King, Freddie King, Earl King, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Wayne Bennett and Hank Garland just to name a few. 

His talent progressed through his formative years through middle school and high school where he started out playing with friends and at high school parties. His progression lead to touring on the road at age 19 with the Plum Hollow Band, a high energy bluegrass band who also exudes rock and roll, lead by the late Barney Barnwell. The band toured the college circuit giving Hodges a taste of life on the road as a young budding musician. Hodges still performs with the band at their annual Plum Hollow Festival in the spring, Moonshiner’s Reunion in the fall and the recently added Bootleggers Ball on New Year's Eve – all 3 festivals take place at Barney’s property in Campobello, SC which Hodges also helped build. 

After touring with the band for a few years, Hodges caught the attention of the legendary Col. Bruce Hampton, one of his biggest musical influences and mentors. Hodges relocated to Pensacola, Florida to tour with Col. Bruce and the Codetalkers. While channeling his craft under the guidance of Col. Bruce, Hodges toured the country with the Codetalkers leading him to perform with some of his greatest musical heroes. Col. Bruce is known for giving out nicknames and named Hodges "Lone Wolf" which has been shortened to "Wolf" by his friends. His time on and off the road with Col. Bruce was the most meaningful time of his young career that helped develop him into the frontman that he is today. 

After a few solid years touring with Col. Bruce, Hodges relocated to New Orleans, LA in 2006 during a critical time of rebuilding the music scene on the cusp of recovery from Hurricane Katrina striking the city just one year prior. Hodges spent many nights playing on Frenchmen Street and went on to play with an astounding list of some of the greatest musicians the Crescent City has to offer. He also recorded on 22 different albums throughout his 7 year residency. 

He eventually started his own band Flannel Church and went out on the road touring the country  from Frenchmen Street all the way to NYC where they recorded an original song "Stones Throw Away" written by Hodges for Relix Magazine. Their gospel stomp mixed with soulful American Blues landed them on some big stages and festival lineups including Hangout Music Fest in Gulf Shores, AL, and Suwannee Fest and Magnolia Fest in Live Oak, FL. 

Hodges now lives in Los Angeles, CA where he’s now performing with the Gregory Hodges Band and with some of the area’s top performers.
