Decided to dust off my guitar and relive my glory days as a washed-up punk rocker who barely plays anymore. Heard Red Wine Supernova and thought, 'Why not ruin a perfectly good song with my own twist?' Enjoy.

Huge thanks to Sean Kenny for inviting me to cover But Not Often with him! This was the first Microwave song I ever heard—it popped up on my Spotify Discover Weekly back in 2017, and I was instantly hooked. After that, I dove headfirst into Much Love and Stovall, drawn in by their raw lyrics, immersive production, and dynamic instrumentation. My wife and I even braved a snowstorm to catch their show at The Shelter in Detroit, and it was absolutely worth it. 

Sean played a major role in bringing this cover to life. We decided to split vocal duty, so Sean sent me his recorded vocals and rhythm guitars, while I took on bass, programmed the drums (shoutout to GGD), and added some lead guitar noodling. I think we pulled off some fun back-and-forth vocals, and I gained a deeper appreciation for how this song was produced in the process. For instance, I hadn’t noticed the quiet falsetto harmony in the verse before or the way the guitar solo is hard-panned to the left, followed by a second noodling guitar hard-panned to the right. Those little details really stood out during this project.
