Invasion (Moog SP, Nord R2, JV-1080, LinnDrum)

This one is quite special to me, because I made it within only a few hours. I prepared the instruments, sampled the MS-20 for the drumline and started to play. It was pretty fast. Don't know how and why, but it has just come out. :)

Anyway, after the warm-up and the practice, I made the record without multitracking and overdubs. The Moog, the MS-20 and the Nord flow into the DAW through a Focusrite Pro 40. Its much more noisy this time, I guess I have some contact problem with one of my cables. Sorry about it!

Gears used (without being exhaustive):
- Bassline, sweeping deep stuff: Nord Rack 2
- Main bass melody from the start: Moog SP
- Drumline: Korg MS-20 (kick / snare / hihats - own patches)

Project DiSTRiCT 21 - Live session IV. (Korg MS-20 as a drum machine)

Hey, it was a hard one, but I enjoyed it a lot. For the drumline I used the Korg MS20 samples from my previous live session. This time I used the Slim Phatty with instant program changes through the recording session which was quite a pain in the arse.

I made the record without multitracking and overdubs and as you may already know, without quantizations. The Moog, the MS20 and the Nord flow into the DAW through a Focusrite Pro 40. The drumline and the bassline is sequenced from the DAW, cause I have only two hands. :)

Gears used (without being exhaustive):
- Leads, pads and the solo at he beginning: Nord Rack 2
- Main bassline, and deep bass sweeps: Moog SP
- Drumline: Korg MS-20 (kick / snare / hihats - own patches)

I've just reached the end of a long and heart-ripping journey. I don't know what to say. We suffered a lot. I feel perished but I guess I have to stand up. I know she want me to.

Anyway, this time I have to use overdubs (sorry, I have only two hands) but as you may already expect, still without quantizations.
Just a Minilogue and my old Nord. They flow into the DAW through a Focusrite Pro 40.

Raisin (Minilogue, Nord R2)

Hi guys! So, I'm back with a new session. I based it on the 5th one, but this time I used a Korg Minilogue for the bassline. Damn, I miss my Slim Phatty so much, but I had to sell it. :( I hope some day I can buy it back. For the drumline I used the Korg MS20 samples again. I love them desperately. This time I had to pre-program the arpeggios on the Minilogue, cause I haven't got more hands and I wanted to play the leads live instead. 

Big thanks for the vocal to Angie! She made a few takes for me and I sampled her angel voice so I can play her like a pad.

Live Session VI

Project DiSTRiCT 21 - Live session VI.  feat Angie (MS20, Minilogue, Nord R2)

Yesterday I sunk in my thoughts, grabbed my Minilogue and started playing. I enjoyed it quite a lot (and the damned cabernet franc as well) so I decided to hook up the Nord Lead 4R too. This happened. 

As you may already know, I made the record without quantizations, just to keep things simple and straight.

This is quite a strange one, I know. I tried to make a warm bell sound with my Nord Rack 2 and with her big sister, the Nord Lead 4R as well. The Nord 2 won. Again. Anyway, I used my old Slim Phatty for the creamy lead without quantizations. 

Used gears:
Moog Slim Phatty: the creamy lead impro
Roland JV-880 - vox
Korg TR Rack - pads (from 03:29)
Nord Rack 2 - Bells (all way long) and the crying lead (from 1:52)
LinnDrum - drumline (again) :)

Nikolaus (Moog SP, JV-880, TR Rack, Nord R2, LinnDrum)

Hi Guys!

It was a fast run and nothing happened as I planned. I tried to make a song using only my minilogue. I used my Akai MPK61 in split mode to be able to record the bassline and the lead in one take. I liked it a lot (yeah, it was fun) but than I turned on my Moog and damn, I was lost in a sec. I made a tiny little sequence for the Moog as well and I transposed it with the Akai while I was playing the bassline. I liked a lot how it worked, so I put the 707 behind it and after the main take, I run out of hands, so I programmed a sequence for the JV as well (the choir/vox stuffs). So at the end I managed to fuck up the whole live session and created this synth porn. I hope you like it this way.  

Maybe I'll made a live session from this piece but without the JV880, cause I only have two hands. :)

Korg Minilogue: Basically the spine of the track
Moog Slim Phatty: the 2nd (cleaner) bass sequence
Roland JV-880 w Vintage card: choirs and such
Roland TR-707: not the choirs
