Cumulative Commotion

Last summer, i was asked to play a “beatless” set at Stella Polaris in Copenhagen. I didn’t even believe the mandate. The instructions were clear, if bizarre,… NO dancing. 
After the tyranny/fun of 25 years of making people dance, i felt an incredible freedom and joy in this most basic of requests….. and ended up having a truly magical time, in the sunshine, outdoors in a park in Copenhagen with 25000 people sitting on that grass (including Daniel Miller). There were a handful of records that i had never played before, but always wanted to….. one of my favorites from The KLF “Chill Out” album, a seminal This Mortal Coil song from the early 90s rave days, and a Kate Bush song that is a personal anthem. many of these being my all-time favourites songs.. When i closed with “Under The Ivy” i actually had a tear in my eye (a first) …just to feel the power of music, and the rush or joy and relief and, yes, LOVE for these songs that have chronicled  my entire life. 

and of course i found it IMPOSSIBLE to not throw a few dance beats in there……i am hopeless. beyond salvation.

@analolaroman is a Sound Artist, Performer, Producer, and Hybrid-DJ artist. They produce under the pseudonym SKULTPOR. Their fIrst release is due spring 2020 of FOKUS GLOBAL Label.

Ongoing use of classical piano training skills combined with drum machines, vocal pedals, and harmonizer loops sculpt emergent patterns that combine minimal, industrial, proto-pop, ambient, and lush atmospheres. In addition, their live performances feature a hybrid of turntables, keyboards, drum machines, and mixers that offer physically animated expressions with a vocal style that's uniquely its own.

Ana has held residencies at ULM University Arts Festival, The Monterey Symphony, University of Santa Cruz, DALI 17 (The newest Salvador Dali Museum in the U.S.), Royal Danish Ballet, and has been featured in Red Bull Music Academy.
