Entry for Harmonai's Dance Diffusion production challenge 26/5/2023

I wanted to see if I could use AI tools to create the kinds of sounds I would typically make on my modular synth. I used Dance Diffusion and MusicLM to generate samples which I used to compose the track, arranging and processing them further in Ableton.

This is more of a sketch than a finished track, but I was pleasantly surprised and encouraged to see how well the AI-generated samples fitted in to my usual style and aesthetic, but also forced me to make some creative decisions that I hadn't anticipated.

InC++ is a software interpretation of Terry Riley's 1964 composition 'In C', coded in C++, for installation and performance.

Cosmic Interlude [OUTTAKE]

Crowd performance inspired by mycelium.
During AGF's presentation at Resonate 2017, Belgrade.

I started with a single tone from the Make Noise STO, a variable waveshape modulated by Pamela's New Workout. From there I recorded several processed versions of the tone through a number of modules, like Mutable Instruments' Clouds and Rings, and Qu-Bit Electronix's Tone. I then brought the recordings into Ableton for further manipulation (EQ, reverb, panning, tremolo)and arranging. More of the process can be seen on my archived Instagram story @gregwht.
