What is The NOTHING SHOW?

a PHILOSOPHY SHOW FOR ROCKERS, launched on the belief that the world of ideas is an essential part of rock, often overshadowed by the ecstatic spectacles of hedonism, outrage and fashion (all of which have their own currents of thought). Writers, thinkers and sub-cultural revolutionaries will be explored here through the lens of a life spent on and off the road, stage, and microphone - a necessarily personal perspective of grappling with the thickness of thought .

Who is NILS FRYKDAHL?

a rock singer, actor and multi-instrumentalist, touring and recording since 1990 with various practitioners of Rock Against Rock : Idiot Flesh, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Free Salamander Exhibit, Faun Fables and Charming Hostess. As a stage and voice actor, my roles have been largely non-human (Adult Swim's "Tigtone" being a notable exception). Helga mourns the destruction of our environment on ‘In The Wilderness’

Hailing from the forests of Dalarna, Sweden, Helga writes music from the confines of her cabin. Living in the wilderness with just her guitar for company has given her songwriting a unique sense of introspection.
New track ‘In The Wilderness’ is taken from upcoming EP Nebulous. Helga tells us that the new songs are “a musical translation of my inner and physical world. I personally love reverb-drenched music and sounds, drawing inspiration from my dream world, the misty forests, and Swedish folk music.”
‘In The Wilderness’ reflects on the state of the natural world from the perspective of someone that spends their life close to nature. In a time when the environment is ever more under threat, it’s only natural that meditation upon the state of the world, while full of beauty, is tinged with darkness and melancholy. 
Heavier than previous efforts, the tracks pounding drums and mournful guitar lines are juxtaposed with Helga’s haunting, soaring vocals – building to an epic climax like a classical symphony.
Helga is furious at the political reaction to the impending destruction - “clearly Trump’s environmental policy is alarming, leading this world to the path of destruction. We currently live under capitalist insanity. Mankind’s insatiable greed is slowly destroying this planet. We perceive ourselves as separate from nature and dominant over it and it’s incredibly sad. When will we ever realise that we are a part of the natural world and not superior to it? An overwhelming feeling of sadness is washing over me. Sometimes I wish Carl Sagan were still with us today. I’m sure he would have many great things to say.”
