Frozen Tyrant is the first EP by Greek black metallers Greyblack. Musically inspired by bands like Emperor, Immortal, Dimmu Borgir, Old Man's Child, Rotting Christ and others that we grew up with.

The story the EP tells is as follows:

Legend has it, that the wind whispered every truth through the ages… Something no man could hear…

Centuries ago, maybe in the beginning, maybe in the end, hatred had not been born, but awaiting for us instead, way before our own birth… at some forgotten place in time… one amongst all, foreigners, friends, the dead or dreamers, he, marked by his abhorrence towards his rulers, he cursed the privileged, the kings and the nobles. He wished for their downfall, he sensed it. Who knows...? His sole aspiration, to cleanse hatred and evil, to overthrow his tyrants… and see his world change… becoming a better place.

Lost in the crowd, in squalor and dreams… in a world weaved out of thorns, where man’s body and thoughts could breathe thanks to the flame of his spirit and soul.

Seasons were passing by, moments, years… Now mature enough to dare for it. He began, armed with valor and courage, bearing his pain and his shadowy hope for tomorrow. The time had arrived, as he had arrived himself with his pained companions outside the walls… the walls needed to be fallen, along with his tyrants.

A horrific battle commenced, where no one could explain the winds’ fury, unleashed onto the armies, each time opposing swords where crossed together… he had won…
He had conquered the kingdom, it was now his.

Upon the end of the final fight, while his sword was still warm from the souls it had taken on its sharpened edges, madness started to come over him. Greed was already taken over his own soul…and the more he approached the throne, from which his tyrants ruled until daybreak, the more were avarice, hatred and darkness were taking their form upon his very flesh… the more he was changing… when he finally reached the throne. And his form could no longer be perceived as his own. Besides, how could anyone tell it was him, with his flesh now detached, separated from his bones and floating around him…? With his eyes lost into the depths of his own thoughts and frozen air coming through the two voids they had left on his face, while he himself was no longer touching the soil… He was hovering and one could see not only his soul, but many black souls made of shadow flying around him and threatening whoever dared to cast eyes upon their master, like faithful servants...

He sat on the throne resembling a creature no man nor god ever created... one that only madness could have given birth to. He became one of the cursed tyrants, and that odd body of his, froze on the throne, being neither alive nor dead... chained by the cursed throne and frozen.

For a moment, he feels regret, yet nothing changes. Everything is so clear... everything could have been different so easily...

Frozen on the cursed throne, he now mourns for losing the sun and the wind... this wind… which now his very soul can hear... to learn about the truth of his own times.
