It was'nt born as a concept album, but as it was slowly becoming like the music inside it the sound work of Cristiano Deison and Matthew Uggeri ended up finding itself, step by step, enclosed between the narrow walls of an exceptional home. Arriving there from different places and positions, and never actually meeting, Friulian and Milan found themselves, perhaps in spite of themselves, together in uncomfortable rooms which were populated by dark invisible presences. It is not the scenario of a horror movie, there is no tradegy or fear, just the knowledge that somewhere else or the escape itself may be less reassuring than one has hoped. Therefore Francesca Mele's photos, both a seal of the work and source of inspiration for the music seem to further cloak the place in that sense of quiet desperation that daily life often implies.

This is the first single ever from Sparkle in Grey, and features two other great artists: the Egyptian singer Reem Soliman on one side, and the legendary experimental Italian band Le Forbici di Manitù on the other one.

Both provide vocals for two songs that are likely to be some of the most accessible tracks ever done by "the paladins of non-genre", as Sparkle in Grey have been defined in the past.

The 7" vinyl comes in two different version, both limited to 150 copies (the normal black one) and 50 copies (in transparent orange).

This album is the second collaboration between Enrico Coniglio and Matteo Uggeri, two Italian artists active since the middle 90s. In the attempt of moving more and more into melodic forms of musical experimentation, this time Coniglio (that cares of most of the instrumentation, playing guitars, piano, synths and the Armenian flute duduk) and Uggeri (in charge of the whole production and providing samples, field recordings and any other weird sound) have enlarged the team of collaborators, including several singers. Among them, we find an exceptional featuring by Dominic Appleton, of This Mortal Coil and Breathless, providing lyrics and voice for “Facing the Waves”. Beside him, we find the Chinese most known experimental musician, Yan Jun, and beautiful female voices such as the Finnish Lau Nau and the Swiss Romina Kalsi/Animor. The British actor John Guilor (voice of the Doctor Who BBC radio drama) add variety to a really hard-to-classify album, while other fellows provide trumpet, cello and drums.
The pictures included in this draft artwork are from the British painter Graham Crowley.

Following an input by Marco Pandin,  Alberto Carozzi recorded four minimal pieces on electric guitar, improvising on the concept of playing as less possible. At the beginning these sounds would be used as a soundtrack for a reading on Pandin's writings, and they'll do someday. In the meanwhile, these recordings took an unexpected evolution, and the four pieces became then five by the collaboration of Matteo Uggeri, who added tribal beats and weird samples. He then mixed the whole album, named "The Last Five Minutes", an invitation to manage tension through patience.
