Beat Merchants come again with an eclectic four track EP, '423' on Chronic.
 
Since their debut in 2019 the duo have been consistently turning heads, picking up support from the underground and from BBC R1 & 1Xtra tastemakers, Jeremiah Asiamah, DJ Target, Annie Mac & Rene LaVice as well as spins on Kiss, Rinse & Reprazent Radio amongst others. Their hard-to-miss flavour is drizzled on everything they write and this body of work is no exception. Soulful elements and razor sharp production, packed full of influences from their musical lives touching on Reggae, Hip Hop, Soul and beyond.
 
This EP features two cuts aimed squarely at the dancefloor with title track a sublime roller, '432', channelling Bristol vibes, and Dark Oceans a deep, brooding bassline workout. Then to contrast up steps the inimitable Nixxxsta with the West Coast inspired 'Ghetto', the first of a run of BM tracks in with works with this exciting vocalist. The to round off the EP Miss Trouble takes the lead with precision delivery and an effortless flow on 'Knock Em Out', with the West London based singer and rapper continuing her a strong line of D&B collaborations in fine style!

South London’s Benny L is coming off the back of his successful Walrus EP, also on Audioporn, as well as remixes for Mozez and Dub FX. On this latest release, he continues to explore new areas and new visions, taking you further into his take on the d&b sound.

Thunder starts off slowly, establishing itself with a silky, sliding synth line, with ominous sounds forming a background. The beats are rolling, the bass menacing, and the feeling one of compulsion to dance. Let Benny L take you into his world, of large soundscapes and urgent drums & bass. The producer keeps things tight, but with enough expression to put his point across. Destined for the dancefloor, Thunder is also considered enough for listening at home or on road. Bitter Sweet is a colossal, epic tune, which starts its journey with deep, space age bleeps, before building up. The delayed drop sees the bass come to the forefront – prepare to shock out once it hits. Humming away like some sort of futuristic helicopter, Benny then brings in some old skool samples and ringing cymbals. This one’s got it all, guaranteed anthem status. Capturing all that is good in terms of funk, attitude and appeal, Bitter Sweet is set the take the scene by storm. Benny keeps the flow into the second drop, with that bassline filling you up once again.
