Grid's fourth release comes from Italian duo, Ltd Colours. Showcasing a more profound side to the label, it adds another string to their bow. The whole EP is a masterclass in bubbling tension, leading to euphoric releases & pressured build-ups. The four tracks veer from each other with emotive chords and scattered percs, to more sterner club tools laced with fascinating polyrhythms.

'Messy Objects' kicks off the EP, keeping you on your toes with spiralling rhythms, slowly adding more and more textures to the track until it breaks down & rises back up to juicy sub-bass and a captivating kick drum pattern.
'Quartz' brings it down a notch, starting with low swung bass and a semi sped up mutant techno/dancehall beat, before switching up to a more busy, percussive workout.
'Patterns' keeps it on the same tempo, but rolls out into a deep, polyrhythmic number with a slight UK flavour. Trance-inducing throughout, you'll lose yourself in this lead track.
Finishing off the release, 'ProjectSerjjj' flips it with a 4x4 driver, laced with undulating rhythms and electro tinges. It samples a perfectly modulated vocal throughout and is a perfect end to a stunning EP.

Chaque mois, Manifesto XXI donne carte blanche à une figure prometteuse de la scène électronique française : l’occasion pour elle de nous présenter son univers en quelques morceaux. Nous invitons aujourd’hui Sylvere (@sylvere) pour un mix riche en kicks, juste à temps pour épauler la sortie de son EP2.
On ne compte plus les line-up où on a pu trouver le nom de Sylvere(Couvre x Chefs, soirées La Créole, en live sur BBC Radio 1, Megalasting à Londres, etc). Prodigieux producteur vivant désormais à Paris, il rend hommage aux percussions des Caraïbes tout en s’inspirant de la culture soundsystem, très mise en avant en Outre-Manche. Manifestement inspiré par les musiques émergentes des sous-cultures anglaises comme la jungle, les breaks, la UK Funky ou la drum and bass, Sylvere prévient qu’il ne veut pas se mettre dans des cases. On le retrouve souvent à l’affiche du collectif La Créole, avec des tracklists dancehall et parfois reggaeton. Ayant des origines martiniquaises, Sylvere fait honneur à la culture soundsystem qui y est très courante. C’est d’ailleurs ce qui inspire EP2 et qui le rend si unique. Les basses assourdissantes actualisent cette culture en faisant le pont entre un passé caribéen et un renouveau européen bien présent. Les vibrations y sont moins granuleuses à l’ère du digital. Un projet de cinq titres où Sylvere s’amuse à saupoudrer le dancehall de teintes drum and bass ou de techno, au choix.
