Grid Based Beats is a music production studio and techno label based out of Chicago. Our samples are created using analog gear including drum machines, vintage synths and a modular synthesizer system. While our focus and passion will always be Techno, our samples can be used in multiple electronic music genres. 

The samples created in our studio are surgically processed through a hybrid analog and digital chain, resulting in an efficient workflow to the end user. Just drop them in any DAW and go.

Grid Based Beats Radio on Fnoob Techno

Computer Generated Melody contains four tracks with tempos ranging from 129 - 135 BPMs. All tracks contain an acid component and were created from patterns that evolve over time. 

'Underlying Intent' is a deep acid track featuring smooth bass and liquid acid. 'Ultra' flows at 135 BPM with tight percussion, acid overlays and dub inspired chord progressions. 'Filling The Void' is the track that comes in handy for those late night, deep sets. 

Finally, the title track, 'Computer Generated Melody' is just that; pulsating rhythms with an algorithmic melody and a low end that will cut through any sound system.

This sample pack contains 32 synth loops created using a vintage Akai VX90 synthesizer. The samples are geared for techno and house music productions. The synth loops in the pack are comprised of chord stabs, melodic strings, glitchy synth lines and rich bass loops.

All samples are in the same key and clocked at 135BPM in order to be easily interchangable within your productions.

Further, the samples were recorded dry using high end A/D conversion and light, corrective EQ. Process them any way you want.

Recorded at 24bit and 44.1kHz.

Mod Distortion Drums contains 32 drum loops and 68 one shots for a total of 100 samples. Various drum machines were used to create this pack. The machines were routed and mangled through multiple modulation sources, tape and distortion effects.

The samples are designed for hard techno and modern industrial productions. The samples were meticulously engineered and no additional processing is needed. The loops can also fit right into any digital DJ set.

All loops are clocked at 135BPM and are easily interchangable.

About Lewis_33:

Manuel Amezquita is a transmedia artist based in México. The artist
generates his esthetic pursuits plumb the integral linkages between
electronic sequences and mind loops. Consumed by 90´s techno he
simultaneously assume numerous positions, inhabiting a space
between art and dance music. Architect of landscapes, Lewis_33 penetrates the undead skin between solid matter and the immaculate.

The moniker sustains a long and abstract relationship with data and the way that day by day transmutes to the cultural system; artifacts inside the matrix that distor the interaction between lifeforms and their creations.

His taboo-free composition system generate pieces that commune with a single style, as a result the spectrum of his production navigates from IDM, EBM, Ambient, Proto-Techno, Noise, Avant-garde rock, concrete music and/or Click-Hop.

Lewis_33 can be said to emanate different tonalities in each of his
creations, sometimes illuminated and discreet like listening to ambient music and sometimes as dark as a vivid hell extracted from the deepest cavities of rave scene.

We are very excited to welcome back Komprezzor and his first full length release with us.  This album contains 9 tracks that were recorded live, in one take and with all hardware.  

FROM KOMPREZZOR:

The exploration of sound has always been a hobby of mine. I remember being able to hear these melodies in my brain ever since I found out about the existence of Techno 18 years ago.  I was unable to render any of these ideas into the real world until I was introduced to the world of virtual Drum Machines and Synthesizers.  At times it was extremely overwhelming as one can get lost in the sea of tools available to today’s producer.
 
You click a button and “BAM!” an SH-101 emulation is right there in front of you.  However after time, I started to get bored with the tactless connection and repetitive task of utilizing a mouse and a few MIDI controllers. It simply didn't feel like I was able to establish a direct connection with what I was creating.  In fact, sometimes it felt more like a job than inspirational creativity.
 
A short time later I came across an online article from Attack Magazine that hit me where it hurts. The name of the article was, “What Is [Live]? The New Generation of Live Techno.”  This article really made me think about what I was doing. Specifically, my process of creating music.  And more importantly, What Is Live?  Using a laptop or playing the actual instruments my laptop was emulating?  I new what path I needed to take.
 
At that moment, I started saving up some money.  Simply put, I went for it and started purchasing gear.  A Tempest, Octatrack and the new Roland AIRA line started filling the void.  It instantly became more rewarding to be able to record the machines. 
 
I started tweaking existing patches and the creation of A.R.M. (Analog Recorded Messages) was born.
 
This Album is the work of countless hours over several months.  Every track was recorded in real time with some amazing moments and a few hiccups since there is no editing of individual sounds.   Everything you hear was recorded in one take by these machines going into a Mackie Mixer and straight into a DAW (for recording purposes only). 
 
Conceptually, I wanted to translate the arrival of this foreign object to our planet. From the point it determines its destination to the arrival on Earth. This is the interpretation of the creative idea hitting my being.
 
I was approached by Tim Vitek to release music with Grid Based Beats ever since the launch of his label.  Tim is someone whom I respect for how balanced his creative side is with his daily life.  Most of us simply can’t turn it off.  However, his mastering skills and his artistic approach made me feel comfortable with releasing the album on his label.  We talked about how to make this project different.  We decided a perfect fit would be to release a special sample pack containing loops and one shots taken from songs on the album.

I really hope you enjoy the official first release of A.R.M.

Saban designed these tracks to take your mind through a sonic journey only he can navigate. Driving percussion along with hypnotic synth lines is the vehicle of choice. 

The title track 'Fractal' contains broken and magnetic percussion lines with deep bass; an excellent tool for those 3AM sets. Fractal also features remixes from Chicago artists Hiroko Yamamura, Lester Fitzpatrick, Frankie Vega and Tim Vitek. This gives the release an eclectic combination of Chicago techno.

The remainder of the release explores a raw yet emotionally dark sound, which is a signature trait of Saban’s productions.

Computer Generated Melody contains four tracks with tempos ranging from 129 - 135 BPMs. All tracks contain an acid component and were created from patterns that evolve over time. 

'Underlying Intent' is a deep acid track featuring smooth bass and liquid acid. 'Ultra' flows at 135 BPM with tight percussion, acid overlays and dub inspired chord progressions. 'Filling The Void' is the track that comes in handy for those late night, deep sets. 
Finally, the title track, 'Computer Generated Melody' is just that; pulsating rhythms with an algorithmic melody and a low end that will cut through any sound system.

Concept Techno Volume One is the first of a series of sample packs by Grid Based Beats with the objective of full-scale construction kits designed for making hard techno. All samples clock at 135BPM and correspond to the same musical key, making it easy to drop these samples into any DAW or hardware sampler and achieve a smooth workflow.

The sample pack includes drum loops, one shots, bass and synth lines as well as ambient drones. The samples were created using various hardware including a modular synthesizer system and analog drum machines. The synth samples include wet and dry versions. Some samples also have multiple measure lengths (2, 8, 16, etc.) to allow for filter sweeps and modulation to evolve.

The drum loops include full and broken down versions (kick removed) as well as corresponding one-shot samples. The machines were processed through analog compression with light EQ. Includes 89 samples, recorded at 24bit and 44.1kHz.

In our second Sequences series, this release contains 64 samples that were created using multiple synth sources and sequenced with a variety of tools from arpeggiators to euclidean rhythms. The focus was on using random generators and then chopping those sequences into 2-4 measure loops. The samples in this release have a tempo of 130 BPM and are divided into two musical keys for easily constructing lush combinations.

While intended for use with electronic/techno music, these samples can also be a perfect tool for cinematic and video production uses.

Samples are 24bit / 44.1kHz

Reductive Patterns features 73 samples that consist of one shot drum samples, drum loops and various synth loops designed for techno and minimal productions. The loops include punchy, mallet style synth lines, dub style chord stabs and filtered bass loops. This pack was created using multiple analog synth sources and recorded using an analog processing chain. The loops are all in the key of A-minor and have a tempo of 129BPM.

All loops are designed to be easily interchanged with one another. This allows you to use this pack to make complete compositions or easily use within a digital DJ set. Also included are one shot drum files to make a complete drum kit within any sampler or DAW.

Includes 73 samples, recorded at 24bit and 44.1kHz.

Acid Tools Volume Two is the second in a series of sample packs containing nothing but TB-303 loops for acid, acid house and techno music applications. All loops are 16 measures to allow for filter sweeps and clock at a tempo of 131 BPM. The samples were created in four minor keys and contain dry as well as wet and distortion variations. The TB-303 was processed through analog compression with light EQ.
