She is the Co-Creator and Facilitator of "Woman’s Worth: Reclaiming Our Divinity & Our Destiny", and Co-Author of “I Am: My Own Self-Validation” Starla Lewis is a seven-time recipient of the Mesa College Teacher of the Year Award, a 2015 Women’s Hall of Fame honoree, and was recognized by KPBS as a local hero. Makeda Cheatom is the Executive Director and Founder of the WorldBeat Cultural Center. She has produced programs and presented artists from wide cultural genres represented within the cultural center. Makeda has received numerous awards for her service to the community. Most notably and recently, Makeda Cheatom was recognized by the Women’s Museum of California as a Cultural Competent Bridge Builder and she was inducted into the San Diego County Women’s Hall of Fame. Other awards Makeda has received include: Channel 10 Leadership Award, Project Concern International, the Palava Tree for Arts & Culture, Water For Africa Foundation, International Rescue Committee, among many others. She has received dozens of other important awards from the State of California and the San Diego Community. Makeda is the founder of her own radio show, Reggae Makossa, broadcast on Fusion Radio 102.5 FM. She has been on the air for over 25 years. She produces her own television show WorldBeat Live, which is broadcast on numerous community television networks throughout the county.  Makeda “Dread” Cheatom is dedicated, committed and determined to raise world consciousness through music, dance, and the arts. Dr. Heriberto (Beto) Escamilla Morales has worked as a mental health consultant, delivering direct clinical services through several community-based organizations and health centers in the San Diego area. Beto has built upon his lifelong interest in non-Western spiritual and religious traditions including yoga, meditation, prayer and curanderismo by integrating such healing into mainstream psychological practice. Beto received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology-San Diego in 1993. He has taught psychology, gerontology, substance abuse prevention, statistics and Chicano history classes at San Diego City College and United States University, and is a member of the Center for Integrative Psychology of Alliant University. Beto is originally from Cadereyta Jimenez, Nuevo Leon Mexico, and raised in Houston Texas. Father to three and grandfather to five children, he currently lives in National City, CA with his wife Yolanda.
