This is a song i wrote many years ago but i can't sing so i've left it instrumental.  All recorded using a guitar through an Axon AX100 synth and a Pod XT.

I bought a Roland VG99 and this sitar sound is a preset.  I was messing with it and found that hitting the strings created a percussive rhythm so started a combination of strumming open chords, hitting the strings and picking out a melody.  This is the result.  1 guitar in real time, no overdubs,

Revenge of the sitar

I was trying a new acoustic guitar out in a shop, testing the intonation, action and so on when i came up with this piece,  Basically its strummed on the open 5th string with a melody played on the 4th for an A chord sound, then the same on the 4th and 3rd for a D chord sound.  In this version i'd just bought a digital drum kit so tried to build it into a full instrumental piece

Acoustic Blue version 3

This piece came about after a sad week and an overnight stay at Sarah's place in the new forest.  I woke very early and sat on a sun soaked step, watching the deer and the ponies whilst fingerpicking my guitar.  To create this sound the guitar is played through a VG 99 to get the acoustic tone, a VG8 to add the deeper brass sound on the bass notes and a GR30 to add the higher tones.  I like to see how big a sound i can get from one guitar without overdubs and this is such a simple piece but sounds so full.

Sarah's place

Same this piece is one of three versions of the music, the first, just guitar, the third with full accompaniment.  This is played on an acoustic through a slicer effect.  The slicer produces the rhythmic accompaniment to the strummed guitar.  I like trying to create a big sound from one solo instrument and this i hope does that

Acoustic blue version 2

A solo acoustic sounding piece, actually played on a Strat, with a capo on the 5th fret, through a VG99 to create the classical guitar sound, an AXON AX 100 to create the swelling strings and GR 30 with a synth sound added to the E and A string to give it that bass depth.  No overdubs or remixing, this is played live and recorded in 1 take with no post production.

I'm a digital guitarist.  I've used MIDI guitars since the 1980's and still have a pair of Casio guitars.  I still use these and also Roland and Axon guitar processors and synths live and for recording.
My musical tastes are wide and varied, from classical to rock, blues to jazz and the technology lets me dabble in all types of music.
After 10 years playing in a function band its time to expand my horizons into the less commercial areas of music.  Now I'm using the digital guitar processors to multi track with Logic and create full arrangements (ever laid down a drum track with a guitar?).  Half the time its for me with my own compositions, the rest its backing tracks for others.
