2014 is finally here and that means the Upper Cuts series is now officially one year old. After two seasons have passed and 20 tracks of great global club music sounds from all around the world have been released, it's time to keep raising the bar as a whole new season starts. 

For the first track of the Upper Cuts Season 3 we teamed up with one of the most promising young producers to arrive to the zouk bass scene: the one and only JSTJR (pronounced 'gesture'). The energetic beatmaker's distinct style fuses influences from all kinds of tropical-flavored genres, such as dancehall, jungle, moombah or even trap, making him one of the most unpredictable yet consistent artists of this developing scene. 

His latest creation - Panamania feat. Ma-Less - is a zouk bass banger if we ever heard one. Pounding drums and thick basslines provide the backbone for sexy, winding and hypnotic vocal samples to do their magic on the dance floor, while spaced-out synths proceed to make bodies bend and twist in all kinds of new shapes. 

Panamania feat. Ma-Less also serves as a powerful introduction to Enchufada's upcoming zouk bass compilation, scheduled to be dropping this February. 'We Call It Zouk Bass Volume I' will feature this and many other tracks by some of the artists that are (and have been) defining this exciting new genre since the very beginning. LuckyMe are very proud to present the ‘Concreté Misery’ LP from Sevendeaths.
Sevendeaths is the music of Steven Shade. Based in Edinburgh he has spent many years as a collaborator and band member in various projects on the experimental fringes of the Scottish Rock scene - most notably with early LuckyMe signing 'Americanmen' alongside Claude Speeed, Eunoia’s Ali Lloyd and Danananaykroyd’s Paul Carlin.

With Concreté Misery, Shade takes a different tact. A solitary affair written then adapted in long sprawling generative environments, testing the limits of conventional DAWs. The LP features 6 expansive compositions of deep, evolving programmed synth work. No guitars. No pedals. This is an agonizing record drawn out of processors. Moments of sparkling arpeggiators disappear between long plates of dissonant drone; then emerge again, clambering their way to the light. At once claustrophobic & personal and grandiose & distant – this is a record that hangs in a delicate balance.

With opener Petrograde finding its way into the sets of Rustie & Hudson Mohawke - the writer of these pieces has often been speculated upon. We are now proud to bring you a full digital release available with all good retailers. 

We have also produced a select range of physical editions of Screen Prints & Tees derived from the album artwork by Dominic Flannigan.
