Toronto’s Moon King will be issuing their debut European release on September 16th via Tough Love. Entitled Obsession, the record compiles all of the band’s output to date as well as one previously unreleased track, and will be available on LP, CD and digital download. 

Comprised of Toronto native Daniel Benjamin and collaborator/co-conspirator, Maddy Wilde, the duo have been making music together for most of their lives. As Moon King, the two singers weave dreamlike harmonies over buzz-saw guitars and electronic percussion, their live performances capturing a raw-nerve intensity that verges on ecstatic. 

While they have ties to a handful of other Canadian projects – Majical Cloudz, Grimes, Austra – they more obviously share a sonic affinity with the alien androgyny of Cocteau Twins, mbv and The Breeders. Many of Daniel’s songs appeal to our darker subconscious desires, revelling in the embrace of fear and ego as a means of escape. Daniel also frequently performs with his brother Airick's group, Doldrums.

'DJ, producer and half of Room Trax label BLANKA joins moC for her frst appearance with a 4-track EP including a remix by Rhythm Assembler aka MTD.

'Modern Regulations' is a wavy piece of hyperdynamic techno, channeling metallic synths and a whirlwinding synth lead into a hypnotic excursion. 'Echo In The Eternity' is equally attention-grabbing, with its heavy-hitting bassline and undulating synths, showcasing BLANKA’s ability to create mesmerising soundscapes. 'Strategy' balances of the high octane energy of the frst two tracks with its more grave atmosphere but correspondingly fast-paced intensity. Rhythm Assembler takes on the title track, giving it a new twist, both fguratively and literally, adding raucous pads that enhance its industrial appeal.'

Another EP from Ocktawian, signing Sinxergy's first release, a new Berlin-based vinyl label.

Ocktawian delivers four high-octane cuts of direct, peak-time techno to mint the Sinxergy label. Opening with a slamming 909 assault, “Error System” then dips into the hadal zone with a tripped-out sci-fi sound, and “Hurricane” gives the EP a touch of old school flavour. On remix duties is none other than Detroit veteran Mike Storm, who strips back “Error System” into an atmospheric roller for the twilight hours. All up, Unpatterns is a stand-out first transmission from the Berlin-based label, welcoming two artists fresh from album releases on Jeff Mills' Axis Records, and providing a platform for them to create something new.

Titled 'Reflector / Rotate’, the visionary DJ-producer has been kind enough to lend Mixmag the release's b-side, 'Rotate' - a subtle and atmospheric techno jam with muted tones that casts deep shadows across the dancefloor before leaving revellers stunned and slipping into the void without warning.

Here's my description on Clash from fall 2012 :
This mix is a soundtrack to your Indian summer, if you’re having one right now, or a mix for those people that are in need of a lil’ sunshine. It’s a very summery/sunny mix to bring you out of your fall funk. Lots of juke/footwork and a lil’ jungle thrown in for good measure. There’s some jokes in there too. I went for the more soulful style of footwork instead of the colder minimal tunes meant more for the dancefloor. I played this exact set at the XLR8R boat party at Dimensions festival in Croatia this summer.

Pär Grindvik has been a central figure in the Swedish electronic scene since the 90s as record store owner, label manager and producer. In his artistic career Pär has released music across a plethora of acclaimed electronic labels, including a string of hits on his own Stockholm LTD imprint as well as Drumcode, with frequent collaborator Hardcell. Pär’s recent output has seen him contribute music to labels such as Semantica, Marbacka, Sinister and Dystopian.

Founded in 2002, Stockholm LTD began as an outlet for singles and EPs from Swedish artists with a focus on releasing timeless electronic music. It has since developed into a hallmark for finely crafted electronic music from a range of international artists.

Over the past two decades Pär’s involvement with the electronic music community has branched out across the globe. Openly passionate about supporting underground talent, Pär works closely with an ever-expanding repertoire of labels and artists.

As a DJ Pär tours the world, transporting his deft and uniquely dynamic DJ sets to techno fans internationally and on a weekly basis. His worldwide popularity as a performer stems not only from his skill and versatility but also as a result of the energy he puts into every performance. It's this combination that enables him to bring the heat to the best clubs in the world.

Pär continues to serve as one of the most exciting and hardworking contributors to the scene.  Every inch of Pär’s work, including labels, artwork, release info and music, is wrapped with heart and emotion, a quality which keeps the sparkle and curiosity alive within the ever changing adaptations of the artistic world.
