Trevor Bloomfield's music stems from his realization that serial techniques of musical composition and moody aesthetics could coexist. Reordering or extending small pieces of sound/time is a process that he sometimes calls “anagramming.” Anagramming gets at the heart of what sound is by breaking down a sound’s language into its core parts: Intervals, Repetition, Change.

His oeuvre constitutes a powerful investigation into ostinato, anacrusis, counterpoint, and double-tracking as compositional building blocks. It emerged in parallel with the transition from the analog to the digital age, starting with primordial digital audio workstations and audio tape in the ’90s, and evolved to use custom code for a laptop. Across his equipment changes, the underlying impulse remains the same, possessed of a liberatory spirit shared by electronic music and hip-hop sampling: What we’ve been given is not what we must reproduce.

Make no mistake, this is not naïve pattern music; there are patterns, and then, there are patterns. When artfully constructed patterns are repeated and expanded in recombination, they open worlds.

This music is new. This music is new music, and it hits like an electric shock. And the word “electric” is interesting because the music is to some degree electric music either by virtue of what you can do with computers and by the process by which it is preserved in a project file, or by the use of electricity in the actual making of the sounds themselves.

Electric music is the music of this culture, and in the breaking away (not the breaking down) from previously assumed forms, a new kind of music is emerging. The whole society is like that. The old forms are inadequate—not the old eternal verities, but the old structures. And new music isn’t new in that sense either; it is still creation, which is life itself, and it is only done in a new way with new materials.

Listen to this. This music will change the world like 'Pacific Dream' and 'Name Brand' did, and now that communication is faster and more complete, it may change it more deeply and more quickly. It’s not just the Rhodes. It’s a concept. It’s a life support system for a whole world. And it’s complete in itself like all the treasures have always been.

Trevor lives in a small town in Illinois, in an atmosphere which has relegated him to develop his music unaffected by outside influences. He is a happy person and loves what he is doing. He does it because he loves it.

The songs on this record were recorded in true stereophonic sound; they are not 16 monophonic signals placed somewhere between the right and left speakers blended together with echo, but rather total stereo capturing the ambiance of the room and the sound in perspective as heard naturally by the ear. Although more difficult to perfect, this type of recording is far more satisfying to hear, as will be demonstrated upon playing this album.
