Igor Gonya is very much an artist on the move, behind a string of excellent labels he has firmly established himself on the scene over the last few years. His own releases have been turning heads too with regular chart appearances for his edits and originals alike. His latest release is a very aptly titled three track EP Tropical Journey. ALiVE’s next release sees a collaborative effort from label head Tom Budden and Copy Paste Soul, who, along with having just remixed Laurent Garnier has also been made a new resident of the revered Ministry of Sound in London. First up is their joint production ‘Rise’; a superbly uplifting yet understated slice of modern house music. Copy Paste Soul goes it alone next with ‘On Point’, an altogether more uptempo affair, this dance-floor gem’s bass-line drop midway through really marks it out as somewhat of a weapon. ‘Shouldn’t be Here’ sees Tom Budden hark back to the glorious rave days of yesteryear with more brilliantly nostalgic breakbeat infused house music.

After a massive 2014, Chris Lake returned to his roots with “Chest” which came out on Ultra earlier this year. Just in time for summer, Chris Lake returns in collaboration with Ghostwriter, solo producer, and one­half of Midlands duo Cause & Affect, Chris Lorenzo for latest single, “Piano Hand”.

Premiered by Annie Mac on her BBC Radio 1 Show, “Piano Hand” features a slick bass line groove, quirky cut­up vocal samples, and a very speed garage­influenced sound very characteristic of Chris Lorenzo.

Known for his modern house sound infused with funked­out grooves, London­born and LA­-based Chris Lake was signed to Ultra Music in 2012 after perfecting his signature sound through a series of well­received releases and two Essential Mixes.

Premiere: Tom Budden - Want To Go Back (ALiVE Recordings)

ONNO is back with his own unique brand of no frills techno with two new cuts that get remixed to perfection by Martin Landsky.

ONNO has been a big presence in Ibiza and the rest of the European club circuit over the past few years, playing places like Ants at Ushuaia on the reg. His DJ skill, as evidenced at places like Panorama Bar and Watergate in Berlin, is also carried over into the studio, where he cooks up heavyweight house tracks full of funk. He has done so on labels like ViVA, Saved and Moon Harbour and has become known for his bass heavy blend of house and techno.

First up, Some Mo is a gritty, dubbed out roller with seriously weighty kicks. A clipped vocal gets heavy filter treatment and moves about in the mix as industrial chords swell louder and louder. It’s a really slow burning banger. PokerFlat regular and long time production hero Martin Landsky of classics like ‘1000 Miles’ remixes with a more house focused drum line and more fluid chord progressions. The smooth, rolling track that results is a real groover.

Rounding out the top package is another hugely textured, lo fi dub techno roller with monstrous rubber kicks, stiff and icy hi hats and swelling chords. “Stabbing Sally’ kicks like a mule after a teasing start and really has a fine sense of seeing in its bones.

This is a perfectly fun and functional club EP that is sure to find many fans in the underground.

On Life Is A Miracle, MUNIR offers up an extension of his taste for low-slung instrumental boogie, with hints of colourful synth pop, Street Fighter robo-funk and Suzanne Ciani keyboard washes along the way. The EP overflows with positivity and charm, mirroring the lush surroundings and mellow living of his Javanese home.

Drawing influence from his love of the early 2000's Deep Tech-House scene and twisting it with todays more familiar feel of Dub, Minimal, Deeper edged Techno, Valpy manipulates sounds into what he feels is right for the darker clubs & dance floors, creating a sound that does not follow suit, bending a few 'rules' along the way...

Using his many Clubbing experiences over the years in the UK, Ibiza, Amsterdam & beyond, Valpy has developed a passion for raw emotion filled techno, often challenging the sub woofers with his bass heavy touch, without busting the bank on the tempo front. A balance of 'good vs evil' can often be witnessed in a Valpy Techno piece

Fascinated with pitch & bass, Valpy has moulded and evolved his sound into what he produces today, recently gaining support from Pig & Dan, Ramiro Lopez, Dubspeeka & Matt Minimal, who also contribute to the style & development of his tracks, along with Alan Fitzpatrick, Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati & Carlo Lio

Having had 2 EP's released on dubspeekas Skeleton Label and also with Seva Records, Plunk, Lethal Script & Berberris in 2014 alone, Valpy's sound has now been recognised by fast up and coming label Gain Records, (supported by the likes of Richie Hawtin) with a Solo Artist Album due for release in April 2015. There are also further releases on Skeleton and new outfit Kitchen Smoke pencilled in over the next couple of months too

To close, Valpy aims to produce music he wants to hear on the same dance floors that he frequented over the years, experimenting along the way to produce his own unique blend, with the odd twist & turn along the way...
