@simonhinter is an artist who we have been keeping close tabs on since he dropped his Tired Up Ep on Jimpster's Freerange back in 2020. His output since then has been brilliant including releases with Kerri Chandlers Madhouse label, Quintessentials, Nitegrooves and another outing on Freerange. He's clearly and artist who is held is very high esteem by his peers.

His latest EP see's him jump onto @momentcinetique who are having their own golden run of releases. The resultant EP 'Before Choppa' is very brilliant indeed. Prolific Colombian producer Felipe Gordon returns to RNT to deliver his first offering in a 2wo-EP and album project series. The records kicks off with the swingy Strings of the Afterlife, evoking classic Chez-N-Trent vibes and moves to the sultry emotive tones of The Fall of A Withered Empire. On the flip, Felipe takes us into high gear with the hypnotic looped synth groove and relentless beats of Clásico, and lets us down easy with the jazzy lilt of Julia y Luis. A truly standout EP, even for Felipe who delivers quality time and time again.

Release number 4 on the vinyl-only label and blog, Bare Bones Wax sees the start of a new VA series called “Laid Bare”. Much like the very first release, the premise is to showcase the sound the label purveys. Underground house legend Lil’ Mark supplies the A1 track “Bare 2 The Bone”. Twisted synths, tough beats and a killer bassline drive this track so it will kill any dancefloor. Carlo Gambino returns to BBW for the second time with “Satchmo”. Lush licks, deep beats and a spoken vocal give a warm deep workout in his unique style.

On the flip Romanian producer Dragosh makes his debut on the label with “Fresh Fruit”. Having released on labels such as Curtea Veche, Desolat and Memoria you can expect a deep minimal offering with nice interwoven vocals for a modern sound. The final track on the package comes from the Italian duo, Heat Alliance. “Morning Light” has a classic feel with uplifting vocals, warm pads and synths complimented by a deep funky bassline. The result gives the release four tracks that encompass four very different styles, just as we believe a VA release should be!

Next up to take over our Madhouse Podcast series is Owain, a staple in the UK house underground, heading up renowned vinyl-only label, 124 Recordings. 

Established in 2012 this was a platform for artists such as Janeret, Demuja, Jay Shaw, Sebb Junior, Ortella, 2 Bit Crew and many more, providing an outlet for lesser known artists who have now risen to become household names within the underground. With an ear and strict ethos for nothing but true house music, the catalogue is one we highly respect and admire.

124 was closed earlier this year but with new label Puresa Records ready for launch soon we can expect to hear more of the same high standards and quality music from Owain's next venture.

This is one our favourites so far, an hour of house goodness.
