I always enjoy playing long sets and one of my favourite times of the year is playing my IPSO residency at Gewölbe where I tend play up to 9 Hours.

The long sets I think are important, because it gives so much freedom musically and Gewölbe is an incredible club to do that. 

From the only bespoke built Martion horn soundsystem in the world, to the extended opening hours, there is no place like it.

On Saturday, February 29th, beneath a halo of shimmering lights and amidst a dizzying array of lasers in Great Hall, Rodriguez Jr. delivered his newest opus, featuring tracks from his new album Blisss, (debuting on April 24 on Mobilee) to an eager, captivated audience at Cityfox LIVE. The impending album name accurately portrayed the overall mood of the whole live set, a body of work that projected elation and sheer beauty upon listeners. Each sound meticulously crafted and placed to create a grandiose ambiance, at times orchestral in its arrangement, elicited the sense of being part of something bigger than oneself. Coupled with entrancing visuals, a frenetic circle of lights that extended into the audience, and various lasers, it seemed quite clear that our production and Rodriguez Jr.’s music were simply made for each other. 

Harkening back to this amazing 1-hour live set, easily some of Rodriguez Jr.’s best work yet, recreates the magic of the night in the mind’s eye without any difficulty. For those who were unable to attend - here is a chance to experience a sliver of what makes Cityfox LIVE so special. The epic melodies, vocals, and range of sounds - even touching upon some acid house notes - makes this set an aural feast.

Rodriguez Jr., hailing from Paris, France, has graced many Cityfox events past and it is always a pleasure to have him. One of the leading artists on the longstanding label Mobilee, Rodriguez Jr. has championed melodic house and techno and really refined its sound all the while remaining prolific in his productions and constantly performing spectacular live sets. GHEIST are a Berlin-based production and live band, who’ve been conquering some of the city’s best known dancefloors one party at a time for the past three years.  They’re also regulars at one of Berlin’s landmark venues, Watergate, where they kickstarted the project, and since have experienced a meteoric rise, wowing audiences across the globe with their rich and emotive sound. Fusing progressive with house and techno textures, the German natives have forged a deep, melodic sound of their own, which is melancholic and euphoric in equal measure. 

The four-member band, who have played a number of clubs and festivals, have built a reputation as a versatile group, alternating between a full-on live performance and a hybrid DJ set. 

As every good live act, GHEIST’s prowess in the booth stems from their incredible studio productions, which have landed them on various imprints, including Sasha’s seminal Last Night On Earth and Solomun’s DIYNAMIC.

As a natural continuation of their artistic vision and sound aesthetics, GHEIST launched their own imprint, Radau Records, in April 2018. Radau, meaning “noise” in German, gives a more intimate feel to GHEIST’s delicate yet powerful sound, as every aspect of the release  – from the sound production to the artwork – is created by GHEIST themselves.

Just a few months after joining the People & Machines artist roster, GHEIST landed their debut release on DIYNAMIC, Arrival EP, and played their first gig at Solomun+Live at the sun-kissed Destino Ibiza in July 2019. With more exciting releases on the horizon and an increasingly busy touring schedule, it’s clear that we’ve yet to see what GHEIST are really capable of.
