Next up on Industry Standard we have UK expat & New Zealand resident Dick Johnson.  Having been a mainstay on the House & Deep House scene for well over 2 decades he has released on labels such as Play It Down, Paper Recordings & Shaboom. His track ‘I Can’t Help Myself’ featured on our Industry Standard ‘Bits n Bobs Vol.1’ at the end of 2021, now we welcome Dick to the label for his first solo release on the label.

He’s delivered us a great 3 track EP featuring 2 versions of the title track ‘Into The Groove’, and ‘Get Up Now’ to finish it off. Make no mistake, these 3 tracks are all aimed squarely at the dancefloor, with pulsating rhythm sections, and enough disco licks to keep Studio 54 on fire. They are peak time house tracks that will not disappoint. Another Industry Standard winner here for sure…

Glaswegian House don Tiptoes offers up some absolute belters for his Record Business EP which chalks up his 3rd appearance on the SlothBoogie label. The SB crew have been gagging to release these tracks ever since he dropped early demos at one of their infamous 24 hour parties at Sisyphos, Berlin that caused a mad rush to the booth and demands for track IDs!

The title track “Record Business” is a peak time filtered House bomb that has been causing mayhem in sets over the past year… an absolute ear worm! “Call Me” is another juicy slab of HOUSE that features looped up Motown licks, Jackin’ brass stabs and someone who is not very happy that Tiptoes hasn’t been returning her calls! Finishing off the A side is “Food”; the very essence of a ‘Deep House Roller’. Hypnotic tonal loops cycle over tribal drums which are guaranteed to lock any dance floor into a trance.

On the flip you’ll find Tiptoes dimming the lights and getting smokey as he explores his deeper side. “Brothers & Sisters” supplies deep and hazy head nodding beats with clever MPC chops, blissed out keys and spoken word arrangements. “It’s Only Love” sees Tiptoes bringing his motor city influences to the fore with looped up soul snippets, breathy KDJ inspired vocals, thumping lo-slung beats and chopped up string sections worthy of any car wash. Toy Tonics comes up with a new house record by producer, DJ, vinyl digger FIMIANI aka BPlan from Napoli /Italia. This is a perfect combination of everything that forms the basis of real HOUSE music: Afro, Italo, Latin and Soul. 3 killer tracks for the disco dancefloors. Including the party anthem, DISCO MUSIC that has been played by Toy Tonics DJ since one year at every label party with amazing results. This is a HIT! Besides this the new EP also includes Cic Ciac: one amazing latin house song with vocals performed in Napoletan that could also work well in radio, and Drums from the Motherland, an afro disco track that connects perfect disco and neo soul house vibes. All recorded with real musicians (no samples). 

FIMIANI’s new EP is a follow-up to his debut on Toy Tonics called  "Amore Latino" EP. He makes house tracks that remind the early 1990ies New York house-sound of Masters at Work, François Kevorkian or Frankie Knuckles. Based on rolling funk grooves using lot of jazzy piano chords, organs, real bass players and horns. Besides doing his own tracks on Toy Tonics, he also does edits of rare Italian disco tracks for 3 years under his own imprint, Caffè Corretto under the name BPLAN.

FIMIANI who comes from the region of Napoli, (the island called Ischia), is not only a edit maestro and skilled producer, but knows the history and is deeply inspired by the Italian house scene from the mid 1980ies/ 1990ies.
People who know the history of dance music will be aware that the house is an Italo-Amercacn "invention". Italians not only created the music called Italo disco, that was the big inspiration for many (American) dance music producers of the 1980ies and 90ies. The Italians also created the blueprint for, that was later became House music.

House is an Italo-American affair, and Fimiani is a late example of this perfect union. And Fimani is a perfect exemplae how to connect all the basic inspration of real house music: Italo, Afro, Latin and Disco.
