The Mix Series // Groove Co DJs

Here we have it!! The 1st istallment in our guest mix series.

All the way from Germany, we bring you SNACKS! The musical pseudonym of the Berlin based New Zealand/German production duo Rene Corbett & Aljoscha Babel.

Building on the success of their previous ‘Purdie EP’ (released on the German label - Magic Jams) ‘We Want Love’ is a package of pure dance fuel that sprang on to the scene and put the spotlight very much on them. Showcasing their unique style of House music born of fusing vintage synth hardware, hip hop, soul, funk and jazz influences - the Snacks sound is always focused on groove and swing making it ripe for the club.

Here it is! AOTA #2 - Jeremy Giros

Hailing from NYC, with a passion for all things jiggy, we present our second Guest Mix from Jeremy Giros. No stranger to Electronic and Soulful sounds, Jeremy was brought up on the beats of 90’s Freestyle music, Hip Hop & R&B. The influence is obvious if you have ever caught any of his dynamic House sets at some of New York’s most fabled venues such as CieloNYC, The Knitting Factory, SpaceIbizaNY, and more. Taking inspiration from the classic sound of New York Garage House music and Disco, Jeremy Giros puts a modern twist on the sound; with complex drum grooves, moving bass lines, and energetic melodies. 2018 has seen the New York native break out of his shell and into the world of music, signing his debut EP to Toronto based DJ Demuir’s Imprint; Purveyor Underground, which is set to release later this year. Jeremy Giros is surely a rising talent that every house music fan should keep an eye out and ear open for during the remaining half of the year as his music begins to hit the waves worldwide.

The Mix Series // Jeremy Giros

Coming in for our 3rd mix is Ranga Room co-founder and @ourhouseexe and EDL resident Rory Milbank (Merlin). This 30-minute mix delivers a plethora of groovy sounds ranging from Malian world music to old school cure remixes, which is sure to get you in the mood for the weekend.

Throwing all boundaries out of the window and jumping from genre to genre seamlessly this is definitely an education.

You can catch Milbank spinning this year in Madrid or Exeter where his co-run club night Ranga Room has big things planned.

The Mix Series // Pookie Knights

Coming in for our 3rd Resident mix we have the Durham University maestro that is Jake de Glanville (@jake-deg-1)

Drawing on synthy styles seen in his own personal production's Jake de Glanville pulls together a perfect club-ready mix to help nail down his spot as one of the North Easts most booked resident DJ's.

Most notably resident for Durham based party OPAQUE, warming up for the likes of Mella Dee, Eclair Fifi, Raw Silk and Carista just in the past month. Having also played at clubs such as Moles and The Nest in Bath it's safe to say Jake has by no means spread himself thin.

His debut signature track i.C. is now out via Soviett Records and is a real chiller that stands him in a good place moving into 2019, and we're excited to hear more from him.

Coming in for a very special Mix is the Middlesborough dynamo @reesuk

Founder of @paradisorecords, a writer for @BoltingBits and DJ support to the likes of Mall Grab, Adryiano, LK & Hammer and you may have seen his recent Midnight Riot EP on our channel last week.
 
In this mix, he delves deep into the disco archives to deliver a funky 50 min mix. This really is one for the raw disco fan.
 
He is quickly emerging as someone to watch, listen and groove to and we’re sure he’ll give us one hell of a launch night on the 14th January.

If you're a fan of exploring new house & disco tracks this man will be a fan favourite of yours. His musical knowledge has NO bounds and NO track goes unnoticed. Not defined by eras or genres, this mans music collection sure is a force to be reckoned with.

His knowledge and ear for a good track hasn't gone unnoticed too. With over 60,000 Subscribers on his YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/Gazzz696). If you want to get an education in disco then you NEED to be following this man.

Hailing from Bordeaux, Matthieu Vaudeville is a regular spinner of all things House, Disco and Techno in clubs all around the south of France and embodies all we hold dear here at Groove Co HQ.

Starting out with his own regular mix series, SMIB has recently tried his hand at production and has produced a few tracks with a more techno-laced feel and we are very much looking forward to seeing what he has in store for us going forward.

For Resident Mix #4 we are delighted to bring you Newcastle's finest, Meg Ward

Newcastle-based DJ, with residencies at the biggest underground nights in the toon: ILL Behaviour, Time Trip and ape-x. She's been able to support the likes of Helena Hauff, Kettama, Bellaire, and Cromby- all in the past few months. She's also had the chance to play in Leeds, York and Durham recently for other companies, throwing parties and shapes outside of Newcastle.

With her style, she aims to explore the depths of house, acid, techno and disco in a well-fitting blend to please a crowd. Influences include Honey Dijon, Mall Grab and Mark Blair.

She also produces her own tracks, and has a few disco edits on the way, as well as another acid house track similar to TainTed on Tape_01.

ILL Behaviour, on Tuesday nights she plays at cosmic ballroom in newcastle, who have the likes of Sally C, 1-800 Girls, Denham Audio and Special Request coming up this term. Her calendar is looking juicy!

Having formed late last year, Fresh take Records has gone from strength to strength gaining a quick following among fans for their "Pool party" mix series in addition to the premiers on their channel. 

In this mix, they bring us a taste of what they are all about, raw, groovy house and disco delivered in a seamlessly in 1 hour.

Coming in for the last Guest Mix of Season 1 is South England House head https://soundcloud.com/harryjamesuk

Currently living on the south coast where the underground music scene is booming. Harry reps a house/techno vibe and takes inspiration from early disco and house as well as electronic 80’s. He is also a resident for Southampton based brand Astrofunk and has supported act’s such as Jasper James and Tech Support aswell as being on room 2 duty for Denis Sulta

Harry has a number of disco/house edits and tracks on Eton Messy, Jelly Red, Doubleu, Houz, Re-Play Records and soon to be released Tape_02 whilst also receiving early support on his tracks from the likes of Dan Shake, Alex Virgo, Elliot Adamson and Rees.

Coming in for the last of our Resident mixes of the 1st series is Bristol based mad man https://soundcloud.com/burnomusicuk

Currently at University in Bristol, Burno frequents Bristol's nightlife scene dropping bombs from all genres. More commonly known for his awesome productions released on Houz and our own Tape_01 he is also set to feature on Tape_02 with something heavier than his usual offering.

On the DJ front he has gone from strength to strength and has DJ'd at clubs such as Motion, Lakota, The Love Inn and, of course, Move (Exeter). Supporting the likes of @Claptone , @DavidMorales , @Folamour , @Romare , @OFlynnMusic and many more he really is a man for all genres. 

So sit back, and enjoy a master at work.

The Mix Series // Burno

Coming in for mix 2 of our new series is a favourite of ours https://soundcloud.com/tessellatelondon.

This London based party and label is formed of 3 friends and boast a fine history of parties all over London bringing big names such as Project Pablo, Shanti Celeste, Marcellus Pittman and Dj Koze. On the label side of their operations they have seen huge success with the delivery of Aleksandir's masterpiece "Yamaha" which attracted the mass attention of the House world. In addition to this the have seen other master releases from Aleksandir and a few lovely pieces from Firmin.

In this mix they stick to what they do best, solid groovy House music with a sprinkling of other delights.

The Mix Series // Tessellate

Starting up our new mix series "All of the above" (AOTA) is the Brightons finest, https://soundcloud.com/tech-supportuk.

Engulfed in the current festival season, he took the time to make an absolutely dreamy hour long mix merging House, Italo, Disco and Kwaito that rolls seamlessly from track to track for sensational listening. 

Having had support from the likes of Dan Shake, LNTG, Black Loops and Jacques Renault to name a few and with his busy summer performing at Defected Croatia, Westival and Cabaret Voltaire it is no doubt that he will certainly be one to watch in the tail end of 2019.

An Australian DJ based between Berlin & NYC.  She was inspired to pursue DJing to facilitate uplifting morning sounds in immersive environments.  Co-founder of "Front Left” (NYC) she hosts parties that celebrate the dance floor with pure soul, merging deep house with dark-funk.  Kate draws influence from world music, dark disco and acid house equally, delivering a journey that inspires listeners to dance, dress, and embody lowkey-freak.

Here she delivers a wide range of sounds of a deeper variety than we usually explore but with a solid groovy base. Acid, disco and house all tied together in perfect harmony.

In preparation for our 3rd Ever show we have a very special treat for everyone.

The Magic man from Amsterdam https://soundcloud.com/gimbrere is stepping in to the mix for 60 minutes of wholesome grooves.

Gaining the attention of Denis Sulta, Sam Divine, Or:la and Midnight City to name a few he has been teasing us with his robust tech-laced pieces over the last couple of years and has a string of great tracks ready to demolish any dance floor. 

We look forward to welcoming him to Move, Exeter on the 15th September in what is to be a night to remember.
