The B-side of this humorously titled release is hands down one of my favourite tracks of all time, and definitely my favourite Levon Vincent creation. One of the few records that I can honestly say is well worth the high marketplace price, though I hope my copy gives me years of play! There's really no fitting description for this shifting chugger; it's a totally melodic and dubby slice of techno with a nice, subtle tinge of house-y-ness. It keeps going and going, with every element in its perfect place. Lots of reverb and warped sounds that build a series of layered loops from some ultimately quite simple components. For me that's the mark of perfection: a fugue-like cycle that plays on a perfect kick, bass drum, etc. And did I mention there are some VERY fat synth chords? Oh, and I just listened to it again and must add that there are some sweet pitched up lasers. I've always had a soft spot for the sound of lasers! Mmmmmm, Woman Is The Devil indeed.

MOTE032 :: Planetary Assault Systems  - Deep Heet Volume 3

Planetary Assault Systems presents Deep Heet Volume 3, the third instalment of one of Luke Slater’s most seminal series to date on Mote-Evolver and carrying on the series of intergalactic exploration. 

Voltan rips the EP open. Inspired by the Mayan god of drums and the earth, Voltan is underpinned by primal desires. Huge bass drives the track forward and an angry undercarriage whirls deep below. Peppered with snares and licks of white noise, the EP starts as it means to go on.

Pygar’s futuristic sound palette is utterly hypnotic. Loops are layered insistently and despite the 4/4 structure a disorientating soundscape emerges. Filled with sounds that could just as well have been sampled from a space station as coaxed from a synthesiser, Pygar is optimised for the chaotic afterhours.

On the flip side the abstract references are abandoned in favour of the concrete. Turn erupts with syncopated rhythms, metallic rasps and mechanical warning signals. It’s the stuff of industrial nightmares.

Flat Tire is built on an angular bed of noise and interspersed with low, deep rumblings. The track fans outwards as ecstatic details are layered one upon another, ensuring that the EP closes on an enduringly hypnotic note.

Planetary Assault Systems has created four tracks that don’t play by the rules. Deep Heet Volume 3 is Luke Slater yet again innovating with four tracks that fuse together the experimental, the bold and the brutal.

If there’s one culture in the world where balance plays an unequivalent role, it’s that from the land of the Rising Sun. Japanese culture is wildly fascinating on many, many levels. So we are happy to introduce to you our very first Japanese signing: Imugem Orihasam to teach us more about the oriental ways.

Imugem delivered 4 stunning and diverse tracks for his debut EP on BALANS. From friendly and uplifting (Beware) to ultradark (Subcutanteous Tissue), abstract & dubby (Detoxification) and homelistening jazzed up electronics (Aquarium). It seems like Imugem doesn’t want to narrow himself down to a particular (sub)genre or niche without losing that pure techno feel in his productions. We encourage that off course, especially if the results are this beautiful and without loss of the producers very own soundsignature. Imugem manages to pull all of that of, seemlessly without effort.
