P/Laylist : Best of the week N°40 / 2014

Here's the latest track, venturing out of my usual style and bouncing into the g# scale at 146bpm it has proven to be a crowd favourite at the latest gigs. The first time anyone else had heard this track was at 4am at Friday Creek and the crowd was full of "fuck awwfff's" and bouncing faces. I'm stoked to release it and hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do, big love always :)

For Pan-Pot's second release on their new imprint they fall nothing short of what you would expect from the infamous duo. 

"Grey Matter" is a stormer made especially for the intense peak time strobe lights of a dark sweaty club. The pulsing stabs and swelling bass in combination with the rolling hi-hats and shakers keep the energy flowing upward. 
Don't let the word grey in the title fool you, this track is more a burning red. Just like the deep ominous vocal says, "We're burning"!

On the flip side is "Substance“ and with this one, Pan-Pot showcase their vast knowledge of what tension can do on the dance floor. From beginning to end, it teases with builds that never quite go over the edge. Constantly increasing, it creates the desire for just a little more while never giving you the satisfaction of a resolution. 

It's a concept that only masters can make work and when it does, it's nothing short of brilliant.

This song is about celebrating the ideologies of the traditional owners of this land. Past and present.
The aboriginal people are a very generous and respectful culture. No matter which of the many tribes you look at, you will find they all share the philosophy of having a symbiotic relationship with all things great and small. Living in touch with the earth and the spirit.
This track features Jannali Doncaster. He is a young Yaegul, Bunjalung man from the Northern Rivers of New South Whales, and also a close friend.
Jannali's totem is the kookaburra and in his surreal embodiment he channels the energy of his ancestors through song and dance.
The main spoken words of this track are by the late Stephan Goldsmith, from the Kaurna tribe of the Adelaide Plains. The power of Stephan's message is undeniable.
Touching on the old ways of life in Australia.
