DJ Jock is back again on Unrilis for his second solo EP on the imprint called ‘Urania’ EP.

At the age of 17, DJ Jock from Croatia held down a residency at Pineta Beach Bar. Started warming up for the biggest DJs, he perfected his craft, and got first-hand experience of what made tracks work on the dance floor.

Not only his skills as a DJ which managed to get the attention but also his production skills with a fine-tuned ear for picking out what makes the perfect techno track, his own productions are in hot demand as you can’t attend a party without hearing a single DJ Jock track, he has a very rich catalog that succeeded to build over 12 years in the techno scene, many tracks on the likes of Respekt Recordings, Suara, Intec, 1605 and Phobiq. Always gets support from Adam Beyer, Alan Fitzpatrick, Joseph Capriati, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin and many others.

DJ Jock: “As always, it was a process of me going to studio and experiment with my gear until I have something. I made Urania like year ago, and the name came when I was watching documentary about Space, where they mention large asteroid ‘Urania’, named by the Greek muse of astronomy. Lonely Satellite was made one morning when I was playing with my Virus Synth, I was just recording sounds, didn't have an idea where to go with them. Then I found that vocal sample and added the drums and bassline. I was playing a lot these tracks last summer and I was really happy with reaction from crowd”.

Carl Cox is an industry figurehead who’s legacy in music includes his iconic label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell, and the new release is from veteran Frank Biazzi.

Belgium based Frank Biazzi is making his Intec debut following releases on labels including Marco Bailey's MB Elektronics and Christian Smith’s Tronic. Frank Biazzi also heads up his own label Trauma Records, and has remixed tracks by the likes of Ken Ishii and Mauro Picotto.

A stalwart of Belgium’s techno scene, Frank is a regular booking at many of the country’s clubs and festivals, and often plays gigs in other parts of Europe.

Having been involved in music for well over two decades, his early releases on the classic techno label Lupp Records were regularly supported by Carl Cox, Dave Clarke and Monika Kruse.

Frank Biazzi had to remove himself from music for a number of years due to a growing problem with the hearing disorder tinnitus, but now back in the studio, he has spent the last couple of years picking up where he left off.

Track one “Reflection” opens the EP with a thumping groove lead by the pound of the hammering kick drum. Taking its title from the looped vocal sample, the track has a thick sound comprising of only a few core elements. Each of the sounds have an ominous presence creating a raw aggression that’s timeless within the techno genre.

Second on the EP “Ravage” is equally as hard as the first cut with a dark atmosphere and menacing intent. The lead synth takes a clear influence from late '90s techno, which is the style that Frank Biazzi is often associated, and fans of both new and old will not be disappointed with this intently powerful track.
