the 10th mix in our naffcast series comes from Jasmín. An incredible Amsterdam based dj and producer Jasmín. Here's a few words from the artist herself :

This mix was recorded at home during a heatwave in Amsterdam. The faint voices and warm, slightly distorted drums echo the hazy, feverish heat of humid summers in a city for me. Most of these tracks are older, have been with me for years, and I keep coming back to them. Others are more recent discoveries, found in digital back catalogues.

At last year’s Opening Party at Unsound Kraków, DJ E (aka Chuquimamani-Condori) showcased their distinct hyper-charged sound. Narrowing it down to genres is pretty impossible, but there are fragments of Andean folk, cumbia and country music ballads, often carefully layered with a bunch of soundboard-effects. The result is a classic DJ E set. Many of the tracks played here were recently included in the almost 2-hour long collection Edits, which you can pick up on Chuquimamani-Condori’s Bandcamp page.

A "techno" sound so unique, modern & boundary pushing, it makes you question the genre entirely. Agonis has become known for his bass, techno, dub, idm-everything.. infused releases, always meticulous and full of surprises. On top of a an extremely reliable and exciting back-catalogue of music and always on-point curation of Amenthia alongside his label co-head Garcon, he is also an incredible DJ. Here for Animalia a special mix inspired by many special shared moments on the dancefloor <3 pure euphoria!

When planning this set the idea for me was to focus on archival dubs from the early years of Dubstep/pre-Dubstep (2001-2006) that have yet still to see a release. These are many of the same tunes you could’ve likely heard at a FWD night in these years. In keeping with the progressive spirit of FWD though, I didn’t want it to be solely retrospective — so along with the classic archival tunes I mixed in contemporary productions from myself and a few other newer artists — tracing some of the threads linking past, present, and future. I felt a connection to this crowd in particular and that’s not something that happens often. A lot of this is down to the people behind this festival, the pe:rsona/Positive Education crew are very intentional with what they do, they champion and support a lot of artists who aren’t necessarily ‘big names’. I think this cultivates a crowd that trusts in their curation, they’ve fostered this really special energy. 

I played on Friday night between two live sets, Christian Coiffure and Renslink. They are two incredible acts to be sandwiched in-between which inspired the set to evolve the way it did.
