IEC normally write on acoustic instruments but most of their recent album Pomegranate was written on a tiny one octave keyboard. Better Unsaid in particular leans in to constraints of the tiny keyboard. With 29 upcoming shows supporting Midge Ure, they have raided his synth collection to adapt their songs to cater for a more New Romantic taste.

A dark and gloomy track. Inspired by the kids in my neighbourhood who seem to think nothing matters except being perceived as badass. 
A relentless baseline that is accompanied by chirping and pulsating ear candy and a steady, heavy beat. It's more a mood than it is a song. The different parts are timed in a weird way that keeps the listener off balance unless you let go and follow the beat.

I’m Not Upset is a musing on mortality; born from an anxious morning and written in a cathartic stream of thought. The existential and somewhat dark subject matter is lifted into a dreamy atmospheric bed of harmonies, tapestry of guitars and delicate vocals, towards a triumphant climax filled with horn motifs and stacked voices in chorus, call and response. This is OCHRE’s 3rd release of 2024, co-written, arranged and produced by Brighton musical troubadour Christopher Matthewson and recorded in his home studio during 2023.
