The second single from one of the albums of 2011 from Crosstown Rebels is the delicious ‘Your Style’ from Maceo Plex, featuring hot new talent Maya Jane Coles on remix duty plus a revisit from the man himself.

‘Life Index’ has been hailed as one of the greatest dance albums of recent times from old heads and newcomers to the circuit. Through the album Maetrik has been reborn as Maceo Plex and spotlighted by the likes of Mixmag and Clash magazine.
Described as a ”sexy grooving weapon” by Mixmag, ‘Your Style’ seeps with the inert funk that garnered the album such praise. Its whispered cries behold a deep passion and pure beauty not yet found in house music. Rich and suggestive in its undertones, this is a true future dancefloor anthem.

Maya Jane Coles is dance music’s new heroine. She has swiftly risen to the top of the house music tree, picked up on by DJ Mag and Dazed & Confused recently, and is a true a female force to be reckoned with. Her remix of ‘Your Style’ writhes with pleasure and is translucent in its desire to gratify. The robotic vocals still centre the track but the beats become more buoyant and are layered with light cascading beeps and bleeps. Feminine in its dreaminess yet masculine in its power, this track will be on repeat for months to come.

Maceo Plex gives the track a revisit for the final track on the package. Stripping back the original he gives it a futuristic re-rub. Possessing a strong forward momentum through its the ringing bassline, the hypnotising claps and cymbals mean you also never want it to end. Extending the spoken vocal with potent laughter and powerful words, this rework highlights the best from the original and could equally be played alongside.

Following on from the excellent lead single ‘Vibe Your Love’, the deep and rhythmic works of 'Your Style' (featuring Maceo on vocals) well illustrate the raw talent of Eric Estornel AKA Maceo Plex and his unique and surprising album, ‘Life Index’, made exclusively for the pioneering label, Crosstown Rebels.

VINYL ONLY. Iban Montoro  & Jazzman Wax are one of the most successful combos of the current house music scene. It is very common to find them on all the most important house charts, with their releases on top notch labels such as Strictly Rhythm, Robsoul, I Records or Madhouse. After debuting on Cyanide in July with their awesome ep “Freaky Deep Day”, now is the time for a proper vinyl release.  

“Chains” defines what a house music piece should be.  A solid funky groove, a fat bassline, subtle jazz arrangements and a catchy black voice, resulting into a catharsis of pure adrenaline and black sweat. The first remix comes by Matt McLarrie (Material Series, Younan) who has added a good dose of groove to the already epic original track, obtaining a massive peak time bomb.  

When we flip the vinyl, we find a superb remix by Dave Pad (Highway, Plastic City) who comes back to Cyanide, after his huge successful rework of Queemose “Promise”. This time, Dave has joined his buddy Anjei, to delight us with a crispy piece of deep house, with a playful bassline and a subtle and elegant acid touch. The icing on the cake, comes by the Spanish young talent Keepin’ Soul (Pocket Money)…who has made an analog and raw dub version of Chains. So deep and fat that it hurts.

Stillhot has grown rapidly as a booking agency over the past few years, which ensures a dance-all-night feeling in clubs all over the world and full floors on festivals with its artists. Martin Eyerer, Alex Flatner and Benny Grauer have now decided to push this concept even further! As experienced label bosses of e.g. Kling Klong and Circle Music, it was obvious to add another department to Stillhot: a label! The main intention was to create a platform based on the family idea for the Stillhot artists, which gives everyone the freedom to release music without any influence from outside. There will always be alternating releases by the Stillhot crew on the new label, while the artists will keep on remixing each other.

The first release comes from the agency companions Markus Homm and Mihai Popoviciu. Those two didn’t produce a common release for ages. We remember countless strong Homm & Popoviciu singles on labels like Highgrade and various other imprints. Thus, we are more than happy to have this one first on the bill of Stillhot Records:

The kick-off comes with “Insomnis”, the title track of this EP. This is a housy deep piece of music, that skips in between Café Del Mar and a peaktime stomper for the night. The Berlin DJ, producer and label boss of Stillhot, Benny Grauer, interpreted this sound in his own way and at the same time stretched a typical Berlin-like style to the eight minutes playtime. With “Accent”, Markus and Mihai shoot out an oldschool-filled and very bass-heavy number and conclude the EP with “Taraon”, a percussive summer House track.

What a debut! The first of all releases on the new label Stillhot has really been successful and we can be looking forward to hearing more hot stuff, that’s already been scheduled!

Crosstown Rebels welcome Tochno Techno label owner Yulia Niko to release her first full EP, Paradise, a captivating three track EP featuring jazz bossanova vocalist Sil Romero and Italian talent Cioz on remix duty.

Opening track Caminando encapsulates Yulia’s inspiration from walking on the White Isle of Ibiza where she spent the last year living. The hypnotising deep house melody of swirly synth pads and Sil Romero’s beautiful dreamy vocals wash over skipping percussion in an emotive composition. Cioz puts his own melodic stamp on the remix, creating a progressive club piece with bright keys over a reshaped bass line. Paradise continues the warm, ethereal atmosphere of the EP, bongos dance on hats as lush, relaxing tones fade in and out.

Russian-born DJ, producer and label owner, Yulia Niko learned her trade in the clubs of her hometown before moving to the US to work as a resident DJ at Verboten, Brooklyn and Heart in Miami. Now touring the world, she is based in Berlin and runs a vinyl only label, Tochno Techno. She has also released on other esteemed labels such as Get Physical Music, Nervous, Heisenberg, Natura Viva and Dee-P-erfect.
