Chip, this is really great, is this your original music?

Many years back, I began writing my third symphony and jotted down a few musical ideas on my workstation. These ideas have been strung together in a haphazard fashion for this recording.  The first several ideas were to be cobbled into a first movement.  At the end, there are a few very different-sounding ideas that I had hoped to write into a second movement, but - * shrug * I never did.

Paul Abrams and I tried to xerox this delightful piece many years ago on my old analog 8-track machine.  Paul is playing drums and singing primary and secondary vocals; I'm singing the low part and playing all the other instruments.

Yours Is No Disgrace   (Yes cover)

I wrote this one back in the 90s but the current political climate induced me to remix it and offer it for consideration once more.  Roger Klug is playing the lead guitar, I'm doing everything else.

Immediate Gratification

Alice Bohn , Paul Abrams and I were in a band called Sometimes Paul.  We recorded this album of original material and released it on Sept. 10, 2001.

01 I Am Your Soap

Roger Klug on drums is a real bonus on this track. I'm playing and singing everything else.  I wrote this in (probably) 95, in response to my first encountering online real creationists who masqueraded as atheists in order to win souls for Jesus.

God Is Deep

Probably recorded this one in the early nineties.  Roger Klug is singing lead and backup vocals, and co-wrote the lyrics.  I'm doing everything else; in fact, this is a rare example of me actually playing real drums, live in the studio.

Pods 95.  Paul Abrams, drums & lead and backing vocals. Bryce Rhude, guitar & lead and backing vocals.  The rest of the sounds are me, I guess.

I'm just some elderly nobody farting around in my basement studio.  I like chords that taste like Rembrandt paintings. But I only wish I experienced synesthesia.



I've been recording my original music (and covers) since 1970.  I just love the process of recording and engineering... I'm never more in the zone than when I'm critically listening to a mix for the umpteenth time.  That said, at my advanced age and after a lifetime of standing in front of VERY loud amplifiers, I have significant hearing loss in the high frequency range.  I hope that anyone who chooses to listen to this lifetime's worth of work will call it to my attention if I've accidentally over-emphasized the high frequencies of any particular song, thanks in advance!

I've had the privilege of working with some supremely talented people throughout my career.  People who must be mentioned are (in no particular order) Alice Bohn, Paul Abrams, Jay Mattingly, Annette Shepherd, Ashley Shepherd, Roger Klug, Ty Masterson, Jill Haarlander, and so many others that my poor, withered memory fails at the moment.

I never wanted to make any money from my music.  I just wanted people to hear it and enjoy it as much as I felt the magic from the music I've loved in my life.
