Unfortunately not recorded live due to the festival cancellation, but recorded at home as a way of coping with the news.

This year, in a move alien to professional dj’ing, I was asked to play what influenced me! What a fantastic brief, but with so many directions it could take, it took a weeks just to narrow down where to go with it, let alone what tracks to include.

In the end I went all the way back to my roots and put together a set that mostly represents the sound of the Melbourne rave scene when I first discovered dj’ing back in ~1996. Some of these tracks I found on pirate radio stations, others heard at raves or in record stores like Octave, DMC or Central Station. I’ve also included some newer updates of a few of these tracks, as that is exactly what the brief stood for… Influence. For a track to be so relevant 30 years after being written that it is simply updated, rather than covered is testament to the timeless nature of classic rave music.

Being old, some of these tracks are pretty hard to mix, so I'll be honest, this one took a few takes to get right.
