3.Serenade 
A quiet, harp-based introduction leads to a calm, serene melody on solo Oboe. This is given varied treatment by the other instruments, before a rising crescendo of overlapping modulations is crowned by a triumphant climax, before a gradual relaxation brings a return of the harp intro, fading into silence. (Note: All harp parts are covered elsewhere in the score.)

This setting of a powerful poem by Julie I Myers has a resonance in today's troubled world.  It is written for SATB choir with a soaring soprano solo part, and is beautifully performed here by Matthew Curtis. Beyond Grief

Little Lamb, who made thee?

“Entrance” is a new choral composition for SATB choir w/piano accompaniment. The inspiring, secular text is by Dana Gioia, former US poet laureate.  It invites the listener to find new discoveries, new creations: “step out…. of the room that lets you feel secure. / Infinity is open to your sight.” With a jazz-influenced, uptempo piano accompaniment, the rhythmic vitality of the piece lends itself to the addition of movement/choreography in performance. “Entrance” is ideal for accomplished high school choirs as well as university and community ensembles.

This little song, composed by Gordon Thornett to words by Linda Marcus, was originally written for a children's choir (in unison or 2 parts), but this version is for adults, and was recently included in a Christmas Wassail production by the Crescent Theatre in Birmingham.

When I had my baby boy, I received so many lullaby albums as gifts. Unfortunately, he didn't respond to bells playing popular songs. So I started singing him songs that I loved and the smile that appeared on his face was something that I'll never forget. I decided to record those songs and share them with other new moms, new dads and babies. My take on lullabies for the babies AND the parents.

This is a simple a cappella setting of William Blake’s poem, ‘Little Lamb, who made thee?’ The two verses are set for SATB, with an optional soprano solo at the beginning. It was written for Sutton Coldfield Chamber Choir, but is suitable for a group of any size, from quartet upwards!
This recording is by a group called 'Voices', based in Toronto, Canada, directed by Ron Cheung.
