A stellar career within the electronic music industry has seen Jamie Stevens rise to the very top of his profession. Making his full Meanwhile EP debut, the 3-track “Circles” continues his illustrious story.

A double ARIA winning artist with iconic live act, Infusion, Jamie Stevens’ solo career is no less impressive. A veteran of the global DJ circuit with performances at Womb (Tokyo), Fabric (London) and across his native Australia and Melbourne hometown, Stevens has continued to see productions feature regularly in the upper echelons of the progressive house chart.

With almost 400 production credits to his name, Dave Seaman’s Selador, John Digweed’s Bedrock and Guy J’s Lost & Found have all played host to the unique Jamie Stevens sound on multiple occasions as he continues to go from strength to strength. A meticulous approach to his production work and unrivalled attention to detail is coupled with a wider ability to see the bigger musical picture and his music infused with warm tonality and rich rhythmic patterns.

Returning to Meanwhile after a remix of Roger Martinez’s “Cosmic Drum” in late 2020, the “Circles” title track is characterised by a pounding club-friendly beat, while shades of Giorgio Moroder shimmer through the percussive groove and syncopated melodic elements. Building in hypnotic patterns, vocal shouts and a liberal sprinkling of reverse reverb effects and white-noise washes, join forces in a glorious harmony to create a typically impressive body-shaking floor-filler.

The aptly titled “Storm Front” quickly emerges with a subtle tension imbued within it. Continuing on the same mesmerising footing as its predecessor, an immaculately crafted groove, redolent in sub-bass and off-beat percussive roll, powers through the 8-minute timeframe. Subtly synthesised and reverb drenched vocal cuts shimmer across the upper-range throughout, making their presence fully felt at the breakdown before the driving elemental force of the central groove drops back into place through the seething third movement.

The final musical image of the sonic triptych has a softer musical vibe brought about by a swathe of complementary harmonic phrases. A beautiful central motif marries elegantly with a smooth vocoded vocal that gently sings the “Stuck on a Feeling” title. Rising and falling with ease Stevens evokes a warm summer evening vibe with his beautiful arrangement. Where the opening pair of tracks hypnotized through powerful rhythmic structures, the final track oozes spellbinding warmth with its glittering array of analogue synth phrasing.

Three “Circles” find Jamie Stevens drawing a vivid sonic picture that elegantly shows the logical relation between rhythm, melody and energy in a precise musical Venn diagram.

"Drifter's Theory" the title name builds a gently evolving atmosphere with delicate groove and wonderful set of percussions, the emotive track with smooth textures enters to a hypnotic and melancholic journey joined by a delightful arpeggios passage the whole track, the subtle components mesmerizes the ethereal lead after the breakdown. 

The first remix comes from our Label Boss, Hot TuneiK, After releasing his album this January supported by Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and many more, now he offers a new collaboration to the imprint. This interpretation seeks more Organic House textures and atmospheres with remarkable Progressive House touch, groovy bassline and percussions combines perfectly, chunky lead adds a vibrant rhythmic to the angelic melodies that Hot TuneiK provides. 

Second interpretation comes from David Popoca Delgado, better known as David Podhel with releases on imprints like Mango Alley, Droid9 and Dopamine White, David gives a twist to the original elements, adding a delicious and meanful arpeggio, a risen beat with deep bassline presence. Cleverly using the melodic root from Steve. 

The third remix is from Kin Izaguirre, a rising Mexican Producer takes the ambient all the way to Melodic Techno giving it a 360 switch of elements. A chunky bassline with razer synths and a dramatic arpeggio, Kin combines perfectly the elements that glides across the driving rhythmic foundation, the narrative of the melody is heavily exposed to the breakdown, the Mexican brings elegance to this release.

Continuing a strong summer season, Roger Martinez’s Higher States welcomes Sistersweet to the label for her debut EP. Hailing from Russia, Sistersweet first emerged in 2021, recording ‘Bali River’ alongside side progressive house phenom Kostya Outta. Released via Balkan Connection, the track would set the course for a successful solo career, one where the Moscow resident would add La Foresta, Time After Time and Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden to her discography, in turn earning praise from genre tastemakers Cid Inc, DJ Ruby, Emi Galvan and Ezequiel Arias, amongst others. Also highly regarded as a DJ, Sistersweet not only hosts her own weekly radioshow ‘LUCH i SVETA’ via Russia’s popular Megapolisnight station, but is also well travelled, having performed from Ibiza to Sri Lanka to the far east. With 2024 already being highlighted by ‘Cosmic Love’, her debut for Time After Time, Sistersweet now adds Higher States to her resume with ‘Aether / Echoes of Sirens’.

'Aether' gets the release underway and sits as one of Sistersweet's most engaging productions to date. Tight kick drums and smooth contoured grooves set the foundation for a narrative of fluttery percussive arrangements and youthful melodies. Pushing a daytime mood into the break; Sistersweet marries emotive themes with trailing sonics and soulful vocal fragments to great effect, building anticipation and emotion with each successive pass, as a tactful build eventually gives way to a thumping drop and blissed out finale.

The companion piece 'Echoes of Sirens' acts as a perfect complement with its cosmic yet club-effective sound. Looking to bring even stronger musicality to her portfolio, Sistersweet flexes her melody crafting prowess once again, with a whimsical top line adding youthful exuberance to a sturdy dancefloor groove. The main break proves to be impactful, flowing through breakbeat rhythms and cascading melodies, expertly intertwined for maximum emotional response, before tight beats and balmy musical co-actions unite for a gorgeous finale that's sure to leave long lasting memories on all the daytime dancefloors this summer season.

Echoes Of Sirens (Original Mix)

The latest release from D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music welcomes Licha Ignacio to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from the progressive house hotbed of Argentina, Licha Ignacio is at the beginning of his production journey. 2023 would see the Buenos Aires resident emerge with a contribution to Future Avenue's Summer Sampler, a release which would lead to a four-track showcase via Cafe De Anatolia. Although just two credits deep into his discography, Licha has already made a name for himself with a cohesive balance of organic and progressive house within his productions. Now, presenting his first project of 2024, Licha add's SCL-6 Music to his resume with 'Brocade'. Title track 'Brocade' leads the release off and showcases a nostalgic mood through retro vocal samples, evocative arps and a sturdy, dancefloor friendly framework. Clocking in at close to two minutes in length, the main break brings further development to the vocal narrative, through no frills modulation and a slow burning build which is nicely crafted for club play. Also included for the less vocally inclined is an instrumental version as well. Selection three, 'Kamuro' lands with distinctive organic and cross-cultural qualities, cruising smoothly with plucked motifs and a gorgeous break highlighted by emotive phrasing. Moving forward to selection four, the exotic 'Peony', Licha carries a similar vibe and mood throughout, delivering a mid set style tool to reset your dancefloor with its quirky melodies and intricate percussive arrangements. Rounding out the release are the lighter monochromes of 'Willow', a seven-minute journey into cross-cultural themes and delicate musicality, all perfectly anchored by a tough low-end to keep energy locked.
