Hissarlik returns to Death Decay Magic for his first solo EP on the label with ‘Fragments’, accompanied by remixes from Black Light Smoke, Man 2.0 and Tronik Youth.

Born in Lille, Georges Lofferdo, aka Hissarlik, has released killer material across the darker realms of electronic music for over a decade. Fusing shady electro and hypnotic techno, his productions can be found across labels such as Elektrodos Recordings and Urban Connections. Returning to Death Decay Magic following his appearance on ‘Dead Beats 1’ last year, April brings the release of ‘Fragments’ - a project inspired by the chaos and challenges of the past year - with remixes from label founder Black Light Smoke, London’s Man 2.0 and Nein boss Tronik Youth.

Opening via the twisting sonics of ‘Alkane’ before journeying into the tense, electro-tinged ‘Daily Life’, the EP showcases the Frenchman’s penchant for the dark and eerie shades of electronic music. ‘Intruder’ ups the energy, fusing harsh metallic tones with sweeping, haunting atmospherics as the elements of the production ebb and flow amongst the mix. Next, Black Light Smoke’s edit of ‘Dancing On Your Grave’ brings the acid as shimmering hats guide 303-fuelled basslines, while Man 2.0’s take on ‘Alkane’ stiffens the track and surges into the peak time via soaring leads and zipping lasers. To close, Tronik Youth’s remix of ‘Daily Life’ delivers a menacing crescendo as zipping electronics and trippy vocals serve up a chuggy final effort.

At first glance, ‘Stone II’ might seem to instantly fit into well-known electronic tropes. However, a careful listen will reveal a savant assemblage of zero gravity electro with the band’s original roots in Wave and EBM. Expertly-crafted all the way around, these 6 singular tracks are a true testament to the band’s ability to deliver highly cinematic and haunting atmospheres. 

The future will appear nearer than ever, as will the ineluctable uprising of the machines and tales of cyber-warfare!

Das wahre Wesen der Dinge ist für das psychische System nicht zu erfassen. Seine Operationen sind vorgeprägt durch seine Sozialisation, seine Kondition, seine Erfahrungen und über die Kommunikation der herangetragene Unterscheidungen. Der Einfluss der über Sprache vermittelten Identitäten, d. h. Definitionen und Logik, ist so stark, dass ein unvoreingenommenes Erleben der Welt fast unmöglich ist.
Das Stück beginnt mit Rauschen. Ähnlich wie die Umwelt in der wir uns bewegen, ist das Rauschen ein Produkt von vielen teilweise sich nicht direkt bedingenden Phänomenen. Auf Grund der hohen Dichte dieser Phänomene, ist aber kein einzelnes mehr für das menschliche Ohr zu differenzieren.
Das Rauschen im Stück wird an einzelnen Stellen durch einen ge-side-chainten Gate-Effekt herausgehoben. Dies soll die Möglichkeit darstellen in der sich psychische Systeme mit Hilfe von Symbolen sprachlich auf einzelne Irritationen der Umwelt beziehen können. Das Erlebte wird gefiltert und es wird auf ein Symbol bzw. ein Wort reduziert, was zwar einen gewissen semantischen Umfang bietet, aber es kann die Sphäre des Wirklichen nicht erreichen. Um diesen Vorgang des Filterns der Realität zu beschreiben wird ein Bandpassfilter benutzt, der das Rauschen filtert . Danach werden die Bits des Audio-Samples mit einem Bitcrusher-Effekt reduziert, der in der DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), die ich benutze, passenderweise den Namen Redux hat. Das ist deshalb so schicksalshaft, da Niklas Luhmann, bei dem oben beschriebenen Vorgang von der Reduktion der Wirklichkeit gesprochen hat.
Das Wort, als Symbol für beobachtete Phänomene der Wirklichkeit, erhält über die Zeit mehr Aufmerksamkeit als das zu erlebende Phänomen. Dieses wird mit steigendem Vertrauen in das bewusste Vertraute, oder man könnte sagen Stereotype nicht mehr überprüft. Genauso übersteigen die nicht mehr aus dem ursprünglichen Rauschen des anfänglichen Musikstückes entstanden perkussiven Elemente diese modulierten Auszüge aus dem Rauschen. Die Drums sind dominant und der Beat verfolgt seinen eigenen Sinn, nämlich sich zu vollziehen, ebenso wie es Kommunikation es tut. Es folgen andere Drum- Loops, um den rapiden Anstieg von Kommunikation darzustellen. Sie mischen sich und übertönen schon lange das Rauschen. Der Takt wird unklar, ihre Funktion ist es bereits. Nur am Ende des Stückes wird das Rauschen so laut, dass man es nicht mehr ignorieren kann. Es fängt an, alles andere zu übertönen. Für einen stärkeren Ausdruck dieses in der Systemtheorie beschrieben Phänomens, wird alles mit einem Limiter stark komprimiert, denn das menschliche Bewusstsein ignoriert bei einem starken Reiz nach und nach alle anderen Signale, die parallel dazu eingehen, da es diese nicht mehr bewusst verarbeiten kann.
