Hector Couto’s Roush Label welcomes French duo Chicks Luv Us to the imprint this May, alongside a remix courtesy of Madrid’s FreedomB.
Marseille based duo Anthony Fonseca and Julien Nerani, aka Chicks Luv Us, have made a considerable impact since breaking onto the scene in late 2014, releasing productions on Get Physical Music, Wow! Recordings and CUFF, whilst gracing the decks at the likes of Ministry Of Sound and Studio 338 (London), alongside their long-standing residency at Spartacus Club (Cabries). Following recent notable material on Relief, Elrow Music and Repopulate Mars, here we see the duo arrive on Couto’s Roush for a label debut, whilst FreedomB turns in an impressive remix on the flip. Title cut ‘Pick Of The Club’ opens proceedings as slick, metallic drum loops, infectious vocal hooks and rich chords combine fluently, before ‘The Other One’ unveils a medley of soulful female and echoed out male vocals laid over a wicked, driving bassline and energetic snare rolls. Last up, FreedomB’s groove focused remix completes the package as the Spanish producer works swirling synths, regimented percussion patterns and ever-evolving effects to great effect throughout.

Young Irish-producer Rebūke continues his rapid ascent to the top with two original productions on Hot Creations, primed and ready for the dancefloor.

Rebūke recalls being worried that Along Came Polly may have been perceived as being “a bit too weird”, but once it caught the attention of Jamie Jones, there was no stopping it. He says that the hype surrounding this EP “is something I’ve never experienced before...and it always get a great reaction”.

On Along Came Polly, Rebūke showcases his innate ability to craft a weirdly, wonderful slice of techno. On the B-side, Rolo is a much housier affair, weaving together a bouncier bassline and sultry vocal stab.

The alias of Reuben Keeney, Rebūke, has only been in business for a short while, but his efforts have already proved to be fruitful. He has garnered support from the likes of Nic Fanciulli and released on labels including Saved and DFTD, as well as having a successful club night under his belt, where highly regarded names such as Camelphat, Darius Syrossian, Ejeca and Huxley have all played.

The powerful duo of Audiojack enter 2019 with a bang, returning to Crosstown Rebels once again. Delivering two distinct dancefloor tracks, their ​Inside My Head E​ P ​is set to make an impact across the globe.

Title track ​Inside My Head i​ s a deep and spellbinding production, woozy and enthralling with a pulsating beat and catchy vocal hook. On the flip, ​Behind The Curtain ​is a darker, more industrial affair with a gritty drum section and an enticing groove.

Audiojack explain that ​“‘Inside My Head’ was inspired by an old prog record from the 90s that used the same vocal. ‘Behind The Curtain’ is based around random noise generators and industrial sounds, which give it a very robotic feel. Then the distorted Wurlitzer piano comes in like a human rebellion against the machines and the track becomes a tete-a-tete between the two concepts”.

Audiojack ​began life over a decade ago on Ralph Lawson’s seminal imprint 20/20 Vision. Since then Underworld, Groove Armada and Hot Since 82 are among the artists who have enlisted them for remix duties. They began their own highly regarded imprint, Gruuv, more than eight years ago and the label has charted releases from ​artists including ​Emanuel Satie, David Mayer, Marc Romboy, Stimming and Joyce Muniz. The duo’s energetic DJ sets have seen them play in hundreds of cities in over sixty countries and they’ve also been nominated in the DJ Mag Best Of British Awards as well as recording a coveted Radio 1 Essential Mix.

Following the exhilarating ‘Baby’ on Drumcode, Tiger Stripes returns to Truesoul with a pair of retro-inspired house cuts. 

The Swede has one of the deepest discographies in house and techno, marked by an ear for deep grooves, dynamic arrangements and cleverly utilised vocals. In a career spanning 15 years, those-in-the-know won’t argue: he’s one of the industry’s most dependable and creative talents. 

His last outing on Truesoul was the inspiring cross-genera collaboration ‘Sound of The Bettest’
with Riva Starr. A year on, his return ‘Sneaking Hotdogs into People’s Pockets’ likewise revels in scribbling outside the lines. The title comes from a segment on the popular Youtube Channel Vlog Creations and the track similarly fizzes with the same sense of fun. Tiger Stripes says he wanted to create a cut influenced by his “guilty pleasure” of ‘90s influenced dance pop music, while crafting a work that stays true to his production style, imbued with plenty of depth, groove and soul. The resulting vocal-driven track does this with deft spirit. ‘Guidelines’ is similarly a trip down memory lane. Named after the club night he used to run in Stockholm, he extracts influenced from his home country’s fertile scene in the early 2000s, where disco-influenced house and techno ruled the roost.

Jamie Jones’ Hottrax welcomes Keno Records’ boss David Keno with his two part ‘WTF’ EP.

Berlin-based Swiss producer David Keno has been a time-tested member of the music industry for a decade and a half. A classically trained drummer and guitarist, Keno dabbled in rock bands early in his career before turning to electronic production under his former alias Vernis. As a result his approach to production fuses various styles, evident in his outstanding releases on heavyweight labels such as Relief, Toolroom, Suara and Noir. Aside from being an international producer and DJ, he also launched his successful Keno Records imprint in 2007 which has since seen over fifty releases.

‘WTF’ delivers a powerful kick, shuffling claps and dense percussion, revealing a churning bass and infectious vocal cuts, before ‘Faceblind’ expertly builds with pitched risers and a rhythmic chopped vocal grabs centre stage amidst gliding bass and clinical drums.
