Groovin

This is a Homage to Tio Simon, he passed away earlier this year and for my arranging final project at Berklee I chose this lovely tune Tonada de Luna llena (Full Moon Tonanda).
Tonada is a style of singing and song used by farmers to sing to the cow while they were milking them. With the industrialization of this process the tunes and style began to get lost and Simon Diaz the great Venezuelan Folk composer made it a point to record and rescue this tradition. The style is very free in nature and has modal quality to it is usually sang a Capella or to the beat of the milk skirts hitting the bucket. Please enjoy!
