You still there?? It's been too long. This is not a recent recording, but another that I cathartically improvised way back in August 2010 (the month in which I recorded my makeshift mini-album The Show Must Go On). I'm grateful for those of you that joined me on that vicissitudinary journey...

This is a call to action: follow my socials if you please would. I still have more to share, including my recent piano piece "Interstellar Waltzer". Of course it was never my intention to be bled dry and squandered as a soloist... I just needed a getaway post-Brexit -- to rejoice in my Unclehood -- not in the hearts of the world.

What Am I? [call to action]

Once again I'm having a dig through my past recording outtakes, and this one from 2014 aptly describes my burnout and descent ever since I involuntarily sold my soul to Soundcloud. A thousand followers, yet zero fans... what a seemingly tragic outcome. It has rendered me soundless and the sky cloudless... no rain for flowers to grow in my own kinda Soundgarden ("Burden In My Hand").

Sure I'll take the burden

Break Free

Brief message to say that my profile as "Lionheart" is almost 100% complete, with a lo-fi "best of" to come at 65 likes (on.fb.me/TTCdvF). This does not mean I'm done with SC, as I have a mission still to finish ("100 likes milestone quest"). Expect possibly a cover song to be my last upload, to replace this 2012 improvised recording that was lost in a sea of late ideas on my Dictaphone.

This isn't how I wanted it to end, but doing noncommercial releases has enabled me to put a lot into perspective; at 22 years old, I believe I've set out to achieve all I possibly could within these strict limitations -- and I realise where it's been working and failing -- it hurts me more than anything to lead my followers astray with the likes of 'Dark Times', but I'll get over it. You may, perhaps foolishly, follow @lo-fi_king for the other half of this mad quest, but do expect HQ compositional material in 2014--Lewis Mark's year of awakening! Thank you for bearing with me as I test these murky waters... it's been quite a head trip for all concerned.

Beautiful Ruin [keyboard performed]

This silly lil ditty is open to interpretation! For me personally, it's about humility and, in reality, a lack of avarice. So what if I'm offering X amount of unpolished recordings of varying styles from under my belt? Why shouldn't my eclecticism in self-expression be known? It's sort of an epiphany: you either hear it in a positive or unfortunate light, based on your own experiences, I guess.

The weight of the world playing tricks on me again... heh. I'm sure that I'm not alone in feeling this way--relying on what songs/artists I'm already familiar with, but it took 6 months until I decided to share this silly ditty (unashamedly). I have more like this! But I intended for this to be honest and give peace of mind.

Might I add, I occasionally go leftfield and have recently become affirmed with the iconic song 'Hallelujah' and the rest of Jeff Buckley's album 'Grace'. I feel less guilty about my listening habits now! Just a matter of learning covers (something I fear I'm not too cut out for)...

Part II: Playing Around the World Tree

Dolphin is one of those rare non-improvisations that took me days and then endless takes to perfect. Of course I upgraded my own fingerpicking + singing skills in the process; though it was such a lazy vocal by the time I was finally through with this (never mind!).

[post-Release III] All My Life (Let it Happen)

I originally felt that this was an odd choice to include for Release II--hence it being "hidden", till now. It's a little reminder of what I've had to exceed in getting up to the point of a third release (which will be fully unveiled tomorrow as a Double EP). Just cos I'm a keen musician - DOES NOT mean that I've been comfortably prepared for this - with ideal recording gear like would be expected. It takes something to appreciate imperfect music, so thanks to everyone who's liked "The Show Must Go On" so far!

Here's to hoping that these improvisational releases have been inspiring, and much respect to all my supporters so far!

2010-08-03 Highflying Renegades [TSMGO bonus]

A seldom seen performance originally by UK indie rock band Feeder. I did this in 2013 before giving up the ghost, among being overcome with malaise, so to speak. I found this song to be so calming during stressful times. 🙏 

I do have my doubts that my original following is still with me, as it’s been so long since I last posted, but if you are there and embracing—kudos!

Oh and apologies for the regrettably spud-like “lo-fi” recording quality. My economics was much more primitive back then! 👌

Priorly an amateur songwriter via keyboard, I soon excelled at free improvisation on guitar — as my subconsciousness seemingly channelled itself into a myriad of one-take pieces.

Being restlessly teenaged in the early 2010s, I spawned my greatest bout of cathartic, instrumental improvs unto concept album Serendipity Breaking Loose (despite being marred in poor digital recording).

Some may recall my premonition by the rather creative approach I took to so-called social media. In a wild experiment predating the EU referendum, I democratically unveiled several of my noncommercial releases via Facebook events — ending prophetically as it were with Blindside EP.
