This is a test showing the difference between the original pickups on this Korean-made Gretsch 5420 and a new set of TV Jones Classics.  The sound file was made with me playing both the old and new files with a new Fender Medium white pick, a George L's cable, and the exact same Ernie Ball strings.  The files were played straight into a Kemper Profiler using the Thomas Dill Brian Setzer profile.  No eq or compression was used.

20 May 14: The first guitar is an original 1975 Ibanez Destroyer like the one used on Van Halen 1.  The second guitar is a 1998 Epiphone Explorer with a Williams Super Duper pickup installed.  No EQ or plugins used.  Note the similarity of the tone.
