Directive 4 is an experimental project based on improvisation, with a revolving cast of musicians put together by drummer/engineer Geoff Chase, in the interest of "seeing what happens".

"Initialize" was the very first thing played, the very first time this particular combination of musicians got together.

People Die (Medley) - Kiki and Herb

This was a side project of the Drumbo/John French band players that I think would have been a great live band, but unfortunately we tried to get it off the ground too late in the game and we never got it off the ground.

So these tracks are rehearsal/arrangement recordings we did in drummer Craig Bunch's studio that were only done to capture the arrangements and never supposed to see the light of day as it is RAW audio but I got a little nostalgic listening to them just now.

"Bace-Baah / Barney's Miller" was a de/re-construction of what I imagined a contemporary re-mix of a 70's TV theme would sound like with contemporary players.

"Lee (Dee) Major" - was an improv.  

After Daren moved away and Eric got busy Craig and I ended up working with master musician Chris Lavender for the Rough Hewn Trio and at least one section of a tune I wrote for this group became, "(When)Hollywood went to Frankie".

I hope we get to do something some day because this group never got a fair shot and I pulled these people together for the Drumbo project because I thought they were great players and had good energy.
