This story follows a group of young childhood friends as they grow into adulthood and navigate through the experiences that must come with that; the wistful memories of their youth, the death of childhood, love and loss and growing older. However, they eventually discover they are in an illusionary world controlled by an omniscient super A.I. intelligence directly affecting every decision or even thought one may have, keeping them locked in an endless loop. Ultimately the friends find their true path and break free after a perpetual night of no reprieve.

This concept album sort of acts as a spiritual successor to my Demo EP "Welcome to the Neighborhood", as some similar musical themes appear in both, mostly used to foreshadow this one.

No. 17 // LIGHTNESS

Written by Gary Zekley & Mitchell Bottler and recorded famously by one of my favorite bands of the 60s/70s (The Grass Roots), "Wait A Million Years” has lingered in my teenage memory and finally gets a quick treatment here. Once again I did a first pass test on my iPhone and grew attached to its raw simplicity despite the rough recording. I subsequently added a vocal harmony and some harmonica accents. Then my Daniels & Durgy partner, Nat Daniels, got her hands on it to lend a hand with some bass, percussion and other editing improvements so that I might offer it here without too much embarrassment! I'm pleased with the results but welcome any comments on this considerable twist on the original Grass Roots version. My great thanks to Nat for her invaluable assistance on this solo track.

Wait A Million Years (cover)

Recorded some of this with one of my grandfathers SEARS microphone that I inherited 25 years ago along with a lot of Stan Getz and Benny Goodman/Buddy Rich records.  R.I.P. gramps and coincidentally that SEARS burned down long after he retired, and I had nothing to do with it! Well o.k. even though I was arrested for shop lifting a Loudness cassette(asian METAL) at 13 by two CIA level security guards posing to be a couple pushing a stroller, i swear i harbor no bitterness!. I remember being handcuffed and led out of the mall screaming I was innocent and didn't even like loudness!, Must of seemed funny to them as i was rocking a Loudness shirt...Sorry Gramps and all you 10 people that hear this can blame SEARS if the drums sound like shit on this one.

Future III: The Crystalline

Songster version was a little ‘copla’ about not being able to be with, nor without, a loved person.  As usual, I’ve ‘upgraded’ it, process from which you only get the final result, normally. 

But, following lyrics’ contradictions, I not only serve parts with different levels of (dis)order in heavy rock - flamenco sauce, but raw vs very cooked parts as well, starting with the improvised phone recording of the very first idea I had to develop the song, so please excuse my failures and noises.
