Fall Forward

We may begin with an image which has always been the favorite Hua-yen method of exemplifying the manner in which things exist.   Far away in the heavenly abode of the great god Indra, there is a wonderful net which has been hung by some cunning artificer in such a manner that it stretches out infinitely in all directions.   In accordance with the extravagant tastes of deities, the artificer has hung a single glittering jewel in each "eye" of the net, and since the net itself is infinite in dimension, the jewels are infinite in number.  There hang the jewels, glittering like stars of the first magnitude, a wonderful sight to behold.   If we now arbitrarily select one of these jewels for inspection and look closely at it, we will discover that in its polished surface there are reflected all the other jewels in the net, infinite in number.   Not only that, but each of the jewels reflected in this one jewel is also reflecting all the other jewels, so that there is an infinite reflecting process occurring.  The Hua-yen school has been fond of this image, mentioned many times in its literature, because it symbolizes a cosmos in which there is an infinitely repeated interrelationship among all the members of the cosmos. This relationship is said to be one of simultaneous mutual identity and mutual inter-causality.
This review of the book "Hua-yen Buddism" by Francis H. Cook, PA State University Press, 1977 in the magazine The CoEvolution Quarterly, No. 22 Summer 1979 inspired this tune.

Net of Jewels

This tune and its lyrics are inspired by an article from: THE NEXT Whole Earth Catalog, 1980, p588:

Chuang Tzu (399-295 BC) lived 200 years after Lao Tzu. Using parables and anecdotes, allegory and paradox, he set forth the early ideas of what was to become Taoism. Central in these is the belief that only by understanding Tao (the Way of Nature) and dwelling in its unity can man achieve true happiness and be truly free, in both life and death. 
To him, nature is not only spontaneity but nature is a state of constant flux and incessant transformation. This is the universal process that binds all things into one, equalizing all things and all opinions. The pure man makes this oneness his eternal abode, in which he becomes a "companion" of Nature and does not attempt to interfere with it by imposing the way of man on it. His goal is absolute spiritual emancipation and peace, to be achieved through knowing the capacity and limitations of one's own nature, nourishing it, and adapting to the universal process of transformation. He abandons selfishness of all descriptions, be it fame, wealth, bias or subjectivity. Having attained enlightenment through the light of Nature, he moves into the realm of "great knowledge" and "profound virtue."

    Howdy People! Thought I'd drop a brand new rocker in on you after Thanksgiving to help digest all that turkey!😂! It could be a very cool workout song! We all need to shed a few pounds after all that feasting we just did! I wrote and recorded this by myself a couple of months ago! The song and video are hot off the presses! An early Christmas gift for my loyal listeners and followers, I try to give back when I can! I worked hard on both the recording and video for this one! I'm singing it too, so listeners beware!😂 I think my vocals are ok in rock songs but they really suffer in ballads! Charlie wasn't available so I just knocked this one off real quick! Some of my best work, I think, lyrically and musically! I can still rock if I really put my mind to it! But too much Rocking can be painful at my age! I ain't no spring chicken anymore! I might even break a hip too! 😂

     The video is one of my best, I really put a lot into it and I didn't use A.I. to do it! We can still make music and videos and NOT have to use A.I. - I do it, not very well but hey, nobody's perfect, oh... I guess A.I. is perfect!
