A song for those who have been cut off from someone they deeply care about. This phenomenon has become all too common in a culture that rewards lack of courage and maturity, masking it as 'self-care'. We abandon broken things because fixing them is scary and we engage in mental gymnastics to feel righteous about it. Victims need not explain why they hurt others because they are hurt themselves.

The sudden and unresolved loss of someone we've been attached to for a long time can be agonizing and maddening, but it has a certain beauty. It could be argued that this beauty would be tainted if that person were to show up with an explanation, so be careful what you wish for. The raw and pure emotional discharges of such traumatic detachments can and should be sublimated into creative work.

Very few things in this world cause more pain than the ghosts of those who are still alive.
