journeys I’ve been blessed to experience by the vast ocean.

UNDERWATER (Desert Trax)

Returning to the musical undergrowth first explored by Desert Dwellers and acclaimed mycologist Paul Stamets in summer 2020 in partnership with documentary film Fantastic Fungi, ‘One Giant Consciousness’ collects the sounds of six producers from the global electronica scene to echo the message of connection and renewal driving Stamets’ celebrated work as one of the pioneers of mycology research and advocacy in the 21st century. A shapeshifting journey through the deep grooves, soothing basslines, and mesmerizing atmospheres of psychedelic music, the collection ignites the doors of perception with an array of imaginative remixes from producers Hibernation, Nanosphere, Equanimous & Skysia, and Desert Trax artists Gumi and Tylepathy to evoke a sense of interconnection between nature, civilization, and the vast network of beings and visionaries lining the corridors of Earth’s history. Hitting on the emotive peaks and valleys engrained in Desert Dwellers’ iconic sound and accented with re-imaginings designed for a full spectrum of sensory environments, ‘One Giant Consciousness’ is a glimpse behind the veil that teases more collaborative work to come from Desert Dwellers, Paul Stamets, and Desert Trax’s mushrooming roster of creators from the modern visionary realm.

Youth’s downtempo label Liquid Sound Design (LSD) launches a brand new series — Future Horizons — designed to delve into the plethora of incredible new music surrounding us. Future Horizons aims to celebrate the fresh sounds from friends of the legendary label, as well as bringing undiscovered artists into the LSD family fold. 

The Lanquidity EP kicks off with one of psy chill’s best kept secrets, Flux Natura, whose gorgeously dreamy ‘Same Heart’ sets the scene for a collection of lush melodies that beautifully mix the organic with the electronic. Saafi Brothers’ ‘Dub Places’ ramps it up a notch and as the name suggests takes us on dubbier trip, a carefully crafted atmospheric journey that is far from languid. Next up, Globular’s Special Trip Remix of Antam Yar’s ‘Voyage’ continues the fluid funk, a deliciously tribal jaunt into the psychedelic realms of downtempo. ‘Dreamcatcher’ is a signature sunshine-kissed Kuban Dub Lagan track, a collaboration with Gumi that raises the tempo and the spirit. Gumi is a downtempo elastic journey created by the prolific Tel Aviv producer Maor Hasbani.

In the late 90s Maor was engulfed by electronic music and started avidly collecting CDs and vinyl. Genres such as Ambient, IDM, Breakbeat, Acid, Space Rock, Jazz Fusion and so on, inspired him deeply and set him on a life mission of self-expression through music and sound.

By elegantly fusing bold basslines, tribal rhythms, psychedelic atmospheres and ethnic melodies - Gumi’s modern production and analog sound has set a blaze some of the best dancefloors on the face of the planet. 

Also responsible for the internationally renowned psytrance project ‘Skizologic’, Maor has already rocked Boom Festival, Psy-Fi Festival,  Rainbow Serpent Festival, Chill Out Planet Festival, Tribal Gathering Festival, Doof Festival, Samsara Festival and Dakini Festival to name a few, as well as extensively touring Japan and the USA.

After releasing two critically acclaimed EPs, Gumi is set to unleash a full debut album in 2021 presenting his new spectrum of sounds and sophisticated storytelling. Stay tuned!
