Sounds from 'Dana in the Snow" reformed into a progressive rhythmic journey. Please listen with headphones at full volume. There are very low bass sounds and the song had to be normalized to a low volume to prevent clipping (annoying but my only choice). You’re walking through the deep forest. Sunlight’s shining through the leaves, catching on mist. It’s backlighting the leaves, darkened only by tiny veins. You see a little hut with strange music coming from it. You walk towards it but a branch blocks your view and then the hut’s gone. You search but can’t find it. As you walk away, the music starts again. When you walk towards the hut it vanishes again.

Sebi Horse

The main recording is water dripping after heavy rain, falling in heartbeat patterns. You can hear people walking past, taking out their keys, cars passing, club music seeping out of them, doors closing. Then other recordings enter—bar conversation, friends talking, streams, minor injury, cracked ice, blissful juke-box apparitions, complaints, tea, a dog, my mom and dad. At first these sounds only come in short snips, like they’re raindrops, falling on and around the other drops. Then these sounds become mini worlds triggered by the raindrops. A drop opens up a sound world and another drop closes it. They merge into the heartbeat pattern. But it’s an arrhythmic heartbeat, sometimes lapsing into triplets, strange polyrhythms, and off-hits; all distorting the mini sound worlds. Heartbeats follow the golden ratio; a pattern seen everywhere in nature, in leaves and flowers, not always intended for beauty but for maximum distribution of seeds or flow of liquid; here in reverse, as liquid pools up enough to release, or, here, to release other sounds. By then end of the song, the mini-worlds expand and almost take over the main space, and then it all fades into a sub ice stream.
